Redout 2, the upcoming title drawing inspiration from all sorts of futuristic racing games, is on the receiving end of another delay.
Following on from the game being pushed back from 26th May to 16th June, developer 34BigThings has now announced it will be holding off on the Nintendo Switch release, as this version needs just "a little more polish" until it's ready to go.
It will share an update as soon as possible. Here's the official announcement via social media:
As noted in the tweet above, Redout 2 will still arrive on all other platforms - including PC, PlayStation 5 and 4, and Xbox Series X|S on 16th June.

Glad they are giving it the quality polish it deserve. More company needs to learn from Saber Interactive, if it's not ready don't push it out the door yet.
Oh that's fine I was buying it on PC anyway. Loved the first game so I'm looking forward to this one.
Nintendo needs a new iteration of the switch
Getting this on Xbox but still Interested to see how this turns out on Switch...
I don't understand why people call it next-gen when it is current gen
I loved Wipeout 2097 back in the day. Maybe this is the game that could get me back into the groove
Really enjoyed the 1st game and if it needs a bit more TLC that’s fine. That said, we will see this issue more and more as Switch falls even further behind in the tech stakes. I suspect we will see several game delays and cancellations in the coming 2 years.
Frame rate issues no doubt.
Just like the first one.
Is this another high-speed anti-grav 30FPS racer on Switch?
Oh dear...
presumably the Switch version will be disappointing and overpriced like the first one anyway...
This cannot be surprising to anyone. I honestly don't know how it will run on the switch, the first one barely did, and it looked nowhere near as good as this one.
@YANDMAN The first one is just lazy porting, no reason for it to look and ran worst than Fast RMX and Fast RMX wasn't even a Switch exclusive, it's a Wii U port but manage to do 1080p and 60fps with online play and exclusive tracks.
@Serpenterror In fairness, the Fast RMX devs, Shin'en Multimedia, are masters of their craft. They were building 3D game engines on the GBA(!) back in 2001 with Iridion, and even their game The Touryst on the Switch runs at 60FPS with no loading times.
@Serpenterror I'm not sure about lazy seeing as they spent a further two years working on it than all the other ports. To me that just says it couldn't be done.
Redout 1 couldn't been 60fps easy. I ran 60fps on a GTX 950m on a budget laptop. The porting devs could've trimmed the features more aggressively for better metrics. It is running on unreal engine though, so that probably make it less efficient.
Fast RMX had shtbox magician coders that programmed down to the metal (Shi'en had roots in the demo scene). Unreal4 on Switch is not nearly as efficient though, so games just won't run as well.
Redout 2 is showing as released even though this article says it's delayed. I'm playing it right now!
When you look at all these little things it's pretty obvious somethings around the corner! Like even as close as a.few months!
