Update [Tue 21st Jun, 2022 09:10] Ubisoft has revealed that Roller Champions is indeed dropping on Switch today!

The company shared the news on Twitter yesterday, also announcing that Disco Fever season kicks off today. The season brings with it new items, outfits, and a brand new game mode. Check out the trailer below to see what's waiting in the arena for you!

Original article [Mon 20th Jun, 2022 16:15 BST]: Free-to-play rollerblading game Roller Champions launched on Sony and Microsoft consoles last month without any update on the Switch version. However, it looks like we don't have to wait wrong to get slaloming, as the game's eShop listing has been updated with a release date.

This futuristic multiplayer game sees skaters take to arenas to duke it out at 100 miles an hour, and you'll be able to skate it out with others from tomorrow according to the UK eShop listing. That's right, Roller Champions launches on 21st June.

Ubisoft has yet to make an official announcement yet, but we'll be keeping an eye out to see if this really does drop tomorrow. In the meantime, here's an overview of the game from Nintendo's listing:

Skate, tackle, and roll your way up to glory in Roller Champions™. Discover a free-to-play, team PvP sports game like no other!

Welcome to 2032. Arenas are built all over the world and fans rush to the stands to admire their modern-day heroes, the Roller Champions. They roll up to 100 miles an hour, tackle opponents, wall-skate, and dunk while thousands of fans scream their names.

As a Roller Champion, compete in a team of three against three. The rules are simple: take the ball, make a lap while maintaining team-possession, dodge opponents and score. Go for more points by completing additional laps before attempting a goal. After each match, gain fans to compete in bigger arenas. Customize characters and create a unique destiny.

Our friends over at Push Square shared their thoughts on the game back when it launched on PS4 last month, and had this to say:

There's absolutely potential for this game to be great, as the sport at the heart of it is well-realised and most of the gameplay works smoothly. The game just feels a bit sparse, like it's been pushed out before it's truly ready

Hopefully, there's a bit more to dig into now that Roller Champions has been in the arena for a month. And if the game is dropping tomorrow, that means it'll be competing with another free-to-play launch dropping on the Switch on the same day — Fall Guys. However, the speedy gameplay and premise alone have us interested.

Check out the overview trailer for the game below, and let us know if you'll be downloading the game on Switch!
