Last week's Pokémon Presents gave us a new look at Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the upcoming remakes of fan-favourite Generation 4 titles, Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. The reception to the new footage was pleasingly positive, with the general consensus appearing to be that the games are looking better than they did in their initial showing (which is perhaps to be expected) and that the new and returning features present are all very welcome.
If you're feeling hyped for their release following that presentation, you'll no doubt want to dive right into these new screenshots below. We've shared 20 new screens in total (with thanks to Serebii), kicking things off with a look at some of the customisation options on offer – a feature that is new to the remakes.
Next up, some battle scenes:
And the Starter Pokémon you'll be choosing from. Who will you pick?
A quick look at some of Sinnoh's updated scenery – and confirmation that your Pokémon will follow you around HeartGold & SoulSilver-style.
And finally, here are the Starter Pokémon giving their all in a Contest:
If you missed it, make sure to check out this comparison video which looks at the differences between Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's new and old trailers, and feel free to bookmark this page of pre-order options for the two games. Only three months to go!

Dawn is Jesus confirmed!
All that bloom. My eyes! Why this looks so damn bland while Link's Awakening looks so beautiful?
I'm playing through Platinum for the first time in anticipation. Much more enjoyable than Gen 8, in my opinion.
Oh hey nice I can use a hm mule bidoof in hd.
I'm one of the few people that actually prefer the way the game looks right now, apparently.
Before it looked kinda boring and drab, now it looks bright like the Pokémon world should be.
@Elanczewski
ILCA seems to have this strange graphic design philosophy of having very soft lighting with little in the way of contrast, it's evident in Pokémom Home too.
They really updated the trainers' models a lot. They look so cool and neat! I can't avoid to feel that is a shame that for most of the game we'll have to see them in chibi style instead.
It looked fine to me in the first video, second video and in fact it was also fine in the original game too!
The look is really growing on me, to be honest. Excited to play this when it releases.
It definitely looks much better now than when it was announced. I'll wait for Legends, but I'll probably pick this up eventually.
Wow, there was a DDR on Pokemon BDSP ?
(Not really DDR, rhythm game by general)
Was the rhythm game have ever featured on NDS version ?
I hope it has some challenging level as Taiko no Tatsujin with density like Paranoia Revolution or Endymion.
Really happy to have your top Pokemon following you. The contest minigame looks better than ever and looks to be a lot more lively and animated this time.
Home compatibility coming only in 2022. My guess is that national dex is not a feature in this title.
This looks awesome compared to the reveal trailer and let's go.
I’m still bitter that this isn’t coming with a special Chatot Joy-Con with an in-built microphone.
@Aliteralturnip I hope HMs are removed. I'm so spoiled by the post-HM world
@Anti-Matter No, there was no rhythm game in the original. And do you really think Pokemon of all games is going to have complexity in its rhythm-based mini-game?
feast my eyes? How Can I? the game looks visually awful
@Elanczewski "Your eyes"? Come on, it's not THAT bad. Besides, the two games look pretty similar.
@NintendoArchive Come on, it doesn't look THAT bad.
@mr-duster I gauge my expectations against the backdrop of the series' financial success. I also think there is an innate flaw in converting game art intended as sprites into 3d models, with complex lighting. LoZ LBW is inferior visually to LttP, LoZ LA is hit & miss with its conversion, & this is a miss compared to sprite work done on DS. They should remake according to concept art, not shot for shot in game assets
@NintendoArchive It isn't a matter of what they should or should not do. If they feel that going for a more simplistic art style is the way to go, then that's how it is. It looks fine for what it is so far.
@Anti-Matter no, this is something entirely new to BDSP. Before you just pushed buttons to match up with what the other pokemon did, but they certainly updated contests in this game.
@mr-duster hes just a troll who probably goes to different articles just to trash the game. Pay him and people like him no mind
@abdias
National Dex is confirmed to return. A screenshot showed Bidoof listed as #399 in the dex.
Granted, it probably means the national dex will only go up to gens 1-4 (1-493)
@MagicMan
I see...
So the rhythm mini game was a nice addition in Pokemon BDSP.
@MagicMan Who?
Looks gorgeous to me! Last time I was in the world of Sinnoh, was back when I'd just finished college. So I'm really looking forward to jumping back in, all these years on!
@EliteXeos no national dex then
@mr-duster I've seen simple done much better than this, the fact that the overworld textures look crude even in contrast to one another, & that the character model eyes look crudely painted on, & even pixelated in spots, doesn't demonstrate simplicity, it demonstrates incompetence, there are features, & then there are flaws.
It's not a matter of "competence". Like I said, for what it is, it looks fine.
@mr-duster the guy you responded to. The one who's trashing on the visuals. People like him go to poketubers videos on BDSP or articles like this and trash it for no reason.
@abdias
Um…yes? As I said the National Dex is confirmed.
If you really thought it would include Pokemon from Gen’s 5-8 then you were setting yourself up for disappointment.
@MagicMan Ah, I see. You're right.
@NintendoArchive
Maybe the graphic of Pokemon BDSP wasn't the best for you, but it still looked fine for me and majority here.
I'm already content with the 2nd trailer so far.
@mariomaster96 I am surprised that screenshot was released, since with water that reflective, and a girl wearing a dress like that... you'd normally see her panties x3
I am wondering if the Poketch will return, and if so... then how will it function? Will be part of the start/x menu, or something? The Poketch didn't really play too major of a role in D/P/Pt, but it was a interesting part of the 4th generation of Pokemon.
@Anti-Matter well the pokemon/Nintendo majority have demonstrated that they are perfectly content to buy lacklustre products this generation; having taste is such a burden after all. Btw not everyone who poo poos something ur excited for is a troll, maybe I am just here to challenge your tastes, which is a perfectly acceptable thing.
I was not expecting to see a blonde Dawn today
