It may be that Chess Knights: Viking Lands passed you by on Switch in March, but if you actually like chess you should look it up. At an extremely budget price you get a whole lot of chess-style puzzles to solve against some nicely themed backdrops. It does its job admirably, even if it's a very niche job.
If, like this writer, you did actually buy that one and fancy more chess-related puzzles, the next entry in the series arrives on 18th May - Chess Knights: Shinobi.
Like its predecessor it'll likely be cheaper than a fancy coffee, so might be worth a look.
Are you a chess master that's tempted to check this out?

I do like chess. I'll check this out.
@chiefeagle02 I’m a sucker for ‘em too. I have at least 4 chess games for Switch and I’ll surely get this one too.
I played a decent amount of chess when I was younger, but once I was beating my dad every game, he refused to play with me anymore and I haven't really touched the game in a couple years. So hey, might check this out, I can think of worse ways to get back into the game
I'm far from being a master but I do like chess puzzles and ninjas. This might be the niche for me.
@SkullDragr Out of curiosity, what's your favorite? I only have Chess Ultra, and it does the job but it's not super exciting.and I rarely feel like playing it. Yes, I know, chess is chess, but I still feel like there are more interesting ways to make video game chess.
I remember Battle Chess on PC many moons ago. It was a craptastic chess engine but it was always fun to play. I've always wished someone would update that concept for the 21st Century.
sure i'll check it out
Day 1 purchase for me.
I literally do not care.
That said this looks really cool. Might pick up the Vikings one.
Hm. I’ll have to pass. I’m already a ninja.
APPROVED SOMETHING SOMETHING
Does anyone remember Archon? Where u had to fight to take your piece?
@rockodoodle Oh yes, that got my attention when I was younger. It was a bit brutal though! If you played someone with a bit more experience you didn't have a chance. The computer "AI" was not that fun to play against, if I remember right.
@aaronsullivan I am a little surprised that there hasn’t been some modern games like this. Or maybe there has?
@rockodoodle There was an Archon Ultra in the 90s, you can play it here: https://playclassic.games/games/action-dos-games-online/play-archon-ultra-online/play/
It would be interesting to have remake or game inspired by it (there probably is something else) because there is plenty of room for improvement in both strategy and the arcade-style gameplay, I think.
@aaronsullivan thx for sharing!
