We've gotten a few pieces of information about Nintendo's recent financial results this week. Having published 2020's nine month figures on Monday, the Q&A session between Nintendo President Shuntaro Furakawa and numerous investors has also been released.

It's brought up several points of interest – namely, when we can expect to see Nintendo's upcoming games – and one investor believes that with nearly 80 million units sold so far, the Switch could eventually overtake the Nintendo Wii's lifetime sales at over 101 million.

Asking what Nintendo will do to push Switch sales further, Furukawa starts by citing Animal Crossing: New Horizons' success in getting people interested, alongside nostalgia for Super Mario Bros 35th Anniversary.

Going further, he also detailed demand for multiple consoles within one family, confirming:

Our research has found that approximately 20% of the Nintendo Switch family sell-through between October and December 2020 in the main regions was due to demand for multiple systems within the same family. We will aim to continue increasing our sales volume by rigorously responding to this kind of demand for multiple systems as well.

Whilst stock has improved in recent times, Switch consoles were notoriously hard to find during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, a situation that led to some retailers inflating prices. It's pleasing to see then that Nintendo is not only aware of demand, but will "rigorously" try meeting it.
