Update: And just like that, the European Tournament has been rescheduled.
Original Article: At the end of last week, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players in Europe should have enjoyed the very first tournament of the new European Online Challenge series. The event was delayed due to "technical issues" introduced in the game's 9.0 update, but it looks like things might be back on track.
An identical event has now been confirmed for players in Australia and New Zealand, set to take place on Sunday 25th October from 2pm to 4pm AEDT. Fans can expect to enjoy "two intense hours" of gameplay, all in the hopes of winning a prize of 10,000 My Nintendo Gold Points, worth AU$100 / NZ$100 / £100.
The announcement for this event arrives just as Nintendo shares details of a Version 9.0.1 patch which will be released tomorrow. Presumably, then, this update will fix whatever it was that was causing problems for the original tournament, and we'd expect to hear of a new time and date for the European event soon.
If you were hoping to join in the fun to win some welcome eShop funds, it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for details on the event's new timing. We'll make sure to update this post whenever such an announcement is made. [Updated - see above].

I could do with some eShop credit. Might keep an eye out for the new European date. I don't expect to win, but it would be nice. =)
Doesn't it say the date and time in the tweet?
The tournament is exactly when I'm working...
@MS7000 It's the same time, a week later.
@BTB20 I am assuming you are referring to me unless I am mistaken. When I originally commented, the tweet was not yet in the article.
Oh ok, I didn't know that. The article says: "we'd expect to hear of a new time and day of the event soon." That's why I was confused.
@BTB20 It's all good.
Def gonna join, eventho i dont expect to win. Lol.
Haven't played Smash for ages and know I don't stand a chance. Might give it a go though.
