Gung-Ho Online has announced that its free-to-play arena brawler Ninjala has reached the five million worldwide downloads milestone.
In celebration of this achievement, the developers have sent out a limited-time gift of 100 Jala (that's the in-game currency if you're not in the know) to all players. As detailed on the game's website, players have until 6th/7th January 2021 to claim the currency.
Eligible users: All
Contents distributed: 100 Jala (Free)
Valid for:
Oct. 27, 2020, 23:00 (PDT) - Jan. 06, 2021, 17:59 (PST)
28 Oct. 2020, 06:00 (GMT) - 07 Jan. 2021, 01:59 (GMT)
28 Oct. 2020, 16:00 (AEST) - 07 Jan. 2021, 11:59 (AEST)
How much is 100 Jala, you ask? Well, you can buy 1000 Jala for £7.99, so you're getting 79 pennies' worth for nothing — hardly a windfall, but every little helps.
Mind you, if the eye-watering pricing for limited-time Sonic skins (which went away on 21st October) was indicative of what you have to pay for the choicest gear, GungHo will have to send out a lot more celebratory Jala until you can get the good stuff without coughing up some serious coin. Still, five million downloads is quite a feat, so the team must be doing something right.
We enjoyed our time with Ninjala — how have you been liking it? Splashed much cash? Let us know what you'll be spending your free Jala on below.

Wow this game is doing good
ive been dropping off the game more cause of slow wifi speeds here. im already settled on not getting more rewards for this season, and might pop back in for the next one
100 Jala on top of the 1,100 free Jala we can get just for logging in each day starting tomorrow nice
Awesome, I was hoping that Ninjala would get to 5 Million players soon.
@EngineerMario
I actually expected Ninjala to be at 5 Million by the end of Season 1 (2 months ago), and expected it to be at 6 or 7 Million by end of Season 2 (yesterday).
Have you tried out Ninjala yet?
@boxyguy
Oh, sorry to hear about your internet problems. I hope it gets fixed soon so you can join Ninjala again.
@CodyMKW
Wait, when was the extra 1,100 Jala announced?

@Ninjalaislit thanks, the weather has been clearing up and matches are more bearable. i really like the UI changes and load time speedups, this is probably the best season yet. the dragon theme this season is way cooler too lol
@CodyMKW
Awesome. I don't know how I missed that.
So, I take it that your a fan of Ninjala? How are you liking it so far?
Also, "we have a new player" (on Nintendo Life).
@boxyguy
It sounds like you're using satellite internet. If so, that stinks.
You change the matchmaking settings to where you can just play with others in your region and not worldwide.
@Ninjalaislit yeah and the lan adapter has been helping still. chooseing between worldwide and regional matchmaking is always a gamble for me. like do i want have a higher chance of finding matches worldwide, or have smoother connections regionally with the risk of not finding matches at all lol
@boxyguy
I didn't realize you had a LAN adapter.
That's good that it's working better. Haha, that's a good point regarding the matchmaking.
I wonder what the regular amount of downloads for a free to play game is? I mean, 5(now 6) million downloads is a lot, enough to get top 25 on the sales charts, but free games tend to have waaay more downloads than paid ones for obvious reasons.
