With Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Bunny Day event now in full swing, it's hard not to notice the brand new elephant - or rabbit - in the room. Yes, Zipper has been bouncing around everyone's island over the past day or so, and he's incredibly enthusiastic about, well... Pretty much everything.
As you'll know if you've bumped into him over the past couple of days, Zipper is always bouncing, always smiling, and always coming out with fun little rhymes. His happiness is frankly off the charts, especially considering other islanders can have such troubling concerns.
But, as it turns out, it's all a show. When you think about it, Zipper has a job to do, and that job is selling the idea of how wonderful egg hunting can be. Like most of us stuck at work all the time, he actually seems like he'd rather be doing anything else - check out what happens when you leave his line of sight, allowing him to calm down and express how he truly feels.
Now play the video again, and tell us you don't feel sorry for him, having to bounce around like that all day to try and keep the rest of us happy. The poor thing looks tired as heck, and the Nintendo gods need to cut him some slack. Give him a break, you monsters.
If you're wanting to get the most out of Bunny Day and ensure you collect everything you possibly can, make sure to consult our guide to the event right here. And give Zipper a friendly wave when you see him, will you?

What will PETA say?
That's always been his character, but that particular attention to detail is great.
@RupeeClock I love this character! He also tried to convince me that it isn't a costume he's wearing.
Do you have a quota for Animal Crossing related articles you need to publish each day or something?
@edhe
They post one article for each new UK coronavirus case
@edhe wow we sure are having fun down here
Maybe he's just sad because the user left his screen and he has nobody to play with?
Look, Mr. Resetti has to put food on the table. Sometimes you gotta work a job you hate. (Or stuff the real Zipper in your basement and assume his identity...)
(Try to touch his zipper and see what happens. Gets rather hostile for a chill game. )
This is nothing, if you do a reaction in front of him, go behind him and talk, he gets really mad you're trying to look at his zipper. He progressively gets angrier for about 3 times. It's great
@edhe Worlds greatest detective.
The dude kinda freaks me out – but I feel for him too.
I was so ready to dislike Zipper, but I’m loving this goofball.
He's more than welcome to stop, I'm tired of finding all of these dumb eggs.
Dude just stares at ya while hopping around. I got nothing against this character though.
He wants to go back to working late nights at Freddy’s, more power to him.
I understand the interpretation that he doesn't like his job, but I really think they were going for an impression that he was just tired from hopping around. But he also looks almost exactly like the Five Nights At Freddy's characters, especially when he is near the horizon. I also find the name Zipper disturbing
Maybe if he didn't go overboard with the damn Sky Eggs, he wouldn't be so tired
I was expecting him to pop out a cigarette, too.
@edhe I know, I can't believe a Nintendo website is posting so much about a hot new Nintendo game. Who could have seen this coming?
@Roto13
Don’t be facetious. Take a look at this article and tell me it is newsworthy.
“Twitter rando observes funny occurrence in video game.” is basically what this article amounts to.
You can easily see this for yourself by just walking down the map if he's not around the very bottom.
just let him be disapointed when we (have to) leave him. we can always come back and cheer him up.
@ummyeahnintendo Zipper first appeared back in AC's Wii entry, predating Five Nights at Freddy's by about six years. FNAF is a relatively recent derivation of the same childishly cheery cultural imagery Zipper draws on, not its source.
What I guess I'm saying is that it's not Zipper's fault if you've let some subversive indie game ruin your childhood for ya
@Fath That is interesting. Though Zipper also looks like the Easter Bunny mascots you see in malls, which I also think are disturbingly creepy. Atleast Zipper blinks, so I'll give him that
Noticed this yesterday. Didn't thought about it that much, but yeah, he seems tired.
He is unintentionally creepy. Reminds me of SH's Robbie Rabbit if it were yellow instead of pink.
@Ryu_Niiyama This is an intriguing comment. What else have you discovered in his basement?
This made me really empathize with him as I've also had customer service roles where you need to appear all happy and polite 😂
