The Second DLC Pack For Tetris 99 Will Include Offline Multiplayer

I want to see 99 people all gathered together only using local wireless

I might just stick with this instead of getting Tetris Effect now.

@carmudgeon I've seen gameplay footage of it and it looks positively gorgeous. I've also seen it for $20 at GameStop. I'll look more into it.

Watching me play tetris 99 got my wife hooked to it on her phone. Local multiplayer would be perfect for us!

@ALinkttPresent Even if the switch can handle 8, I think it will be limited to 4. 8 people means that all the screens would be smashed into a box.

@sleepinglion This is part of the Big Block Pack. They're charging $10 for a season pass that (as far as I can tell) includes all the DLC as it's released. On a free game. I don't think there's really anything to complain about with regards to pricing here. $10 is not an expensive game, especially one that gets new features as time goes on.

Anything less than mode b is a disappointment.

The Local VS Mode (alongside Marathon Mode) is something that should've been included from the start...but whatever. Better late than never, right?

@chiefeagle02 Honestly, I'd look into Tetris Effect if you want more single player content than just Marathon Mode.

Some additional BGM/Music tracks or addtional wallpapers would have been nice too ...

@barneygumble We are getting a Splatoon theme next weekend. And I feel like themes are going to become more common, perhaps we will get some alternate Tetris game themes and some themes based on releasing games like Pokemon Sword and Shield or Luigi's
Mansion 3.

We knew an offline multiplayer mode is coming this year, since the release of the DLC pack.

now THIS is a good deal for NOS, if only they offered more exclusive games like this

Considering that it is distributed as an added bonus to online subscribers, Tetris 99 already did exactly what it says on the tin. Any extra content, paid or not, doesn't affect the base game.

@sleepinglion Why should an online free to play game that is marketed as "Tetris 99" have offline game mode for free? It's a stupid idea, even Fortnite asks money for the "offline" single player mode.

I like how they keep adding offline content to this game. It is definitely necessary to take it seriously as a portable title.

@sanderev Because Tetris started as a single player experience. It's super easy to build it into every Tetris release. I'm a subscriber and I paid for the season pass, but I'm also in the Tetris should always have a solo option camp

So it is stupid to think that Tetris has to be free. If they had asked 10 euro / dollar for Tetris 99 then yes it should have had the single player options. And so now it does. Exactly for that price.

Also except for the early Russian only Tetris game, Tetris always had a multiplayer element. And it was never free.

In the end Tetris 99 was an exclusive free "Multiplayer only mode". Like the Battle Royale mode of Fortnite. The other modes are comparable to the "Save the world" campaign of fortnite. If you want to play offline tetris you could also have just played Puyo Puyo Tetris, but that one also isn't free.

I get that the game is supposed to be a big showcase for Switch's paid online service but holy moly.

For a fee. Still think considering this was originally a gift to those who were online subscribers, we should be getting all the features added for free. To those who don't have online membership, they have to pay to download it. Simple.
