Diablo III On Switch Will Include amiibo Support, According To Blizzard Developer

I would get the Diablo Amiibo just for the collectable factor alone.

Might I suggest marking this down as a rumor until we know it's been really confirmed? I'm very skeptical at the moment.

Assuming this is a thing, I'm interested. Also, even though I seem to be one of the few who wasn't big into Diablo way back when, I'm greatly amused at the thought of a Demon amiibo next to my Starfox and Kirby Amiibo.

Nice! I do love Amiibo as collectables already, but it is nice to see them get some use in 3rd party games too.

I'm guessing they'll be going with the usual use any amiibo X times a day for a small amount of extra gold/items. Not saying that's a bad thing though. I prefer that over locking exclusive content behind them. I think games like Mario Odyssey and Bayonetta 2 found a great balance in having specific ones unlock extra cosmetics early while still having those things available as late game rewards for those without the amiibo.

I want to use Kirby or Yoshi Amiibo for Diablo. Can you imagine having these Nintendo characters inside the game?

On one hand, this is a cool idea. On the other, I did see a used copy of Diablo III Eternal Collection on PS4 for $18 this afternoon.

EDIT: The thing saving the Switch version for me is that two players can each have a single Joycon and do multiplayer and I currently don't have a second PS4 controller...

amiibo support is always good. Here’s hoping it’s implemented well.

@Phin68 Agreed. They're a fantastic way for me to indulge the collecting instincts that otaku have. Otherwise I'd be stuck buying nendoroids at (at least) four times the price. And all things considered Nintendo has my favorite roster of characters (hardly surprising for someone at a fan site), so they're who I'd prefer to collect anyway.

That stock amiibo photo bugs me. Too many characters needlessly repeated considering the number of different figures available. Like the original 3 inklings each appearing more than once, and none of the later iterations of them. Presumably it’s old stock photo, but I feel like there should be a more current complete version...

Diablo III is new to me, but I don't really get it, from looking at a few trailer videos.

I feel like the game should support current amiibo's. Imagine running around in armour inspired by various Nintendo series?... Or even better, what about running around as Tom Nook or something hilarious like that.

Quick question: Isn’t Diablo III an MMO?

Blizzard Amiibo: Diablo, Female Barbarian, Decard Cain, Witch Doctor, annnnd (wishful thinking) TRACER. Because Overwatch will be on Switch sometime next year. Think of how elusive D3 devs were about that title coming to Switch. Concerning they never flat out said Overwatch isn’t going to happen. Just that it’s challenging. Meaning they’re probably adjusting the specs right now.
