SNK’s Neo Geo Mini online presentation has finally provided a glimpse of the official controller for the system. Available in black and white, the Neo Geo Mini Pad recreates the classic design of the Neo Geo CD, featuring the same button layout as the Neo Geo Mini system, and a modified stick design. Connecting it to the main unit enables multiplayer and also couch play.
It appears the controller will be available for purchase separately, with a price and release date to be announced in the near future. Presumably, it'll release alongside the Neo Geo Mini, which is scheduled to arrive this summer in Japan and later down the line globally. Let us know in the comments what you think of the official SNK Neo Geo Mini Pad.

Be kind of neat if they connected to Switch as well as PS4/XBONE. Take that NEO GEO Download Library to the next level with a NEO GEO Controller.
Nice to know but a few concerns about these still bothers me though:
Are these controllers USB or proprietary?
How much will they cost?
How long is the wired length on these?
Will an old NeoGeo CD controller also work on this NeoGeo Mini?
SNK you need to answer these before the launch window.
@samuelvictor I agree but looking at NeoGeo CD controllers, the colors of the buttons were always confusing back then, only the letter stay the same.
@samuelvictor Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed!
Does anyone else find it kinda odd how they went with a different button layout than the original? This is what the original AES/CD controller looked like:
@JayJ I think you're late to the party Johnny Turbo
@Tim_Vreeland I guess you're right, but was there ever a good explanation for it?
@JayJ Probably not lol. Sometimes I just don't get some of these decisions game companies make.
I remember when news of this mini system leaked the odd button placement was cited as a reason to think the rumour was a hoax! Funny how things turn out!
I have to say I'd quite like one of these...
@Tsurii yeah not sure we need every E3 story broken up into 4 different stories on here.... seems a bit desperate for clicks.
Simple, solid-looking controller designs with no obvious things that bug me about them at first glance.
The stick on the pad doesn't look like it has microswitches, and the controller port looks proprietary. Still, it'd be a shame if these pads were locked to the NEOGEO Mini. I really want them!
Mmm. That white one is beautiful. I would genuinely just display it even when not in use.
It is odd that they went with a different layout, but at least the buttons/colors are the same as the MVS/AES. As someone who has only ever played on a cab or with the AES stick (And custom sticks) I think I can get over the layout being slightly different, but there's no way I could get over the colors being different.
I would be nice if they used an AES plug so you could use a joystick.
That's some great news right there
I was skeptical that this would be quality hardware. I'm even more skeptical after this button oversight.
And cue 8BitDo making a superior wireless version. Or at least a decent wireless version.
