Until recently, the Dark Souls-esque Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption was only slated for release on PC and other console platforms, but a recent delay in development brought with it a rather surprising silver lining - namely that a Nintendo Switch version is also in the works. Huzzah!
The game is an action-RPG all about facing eight giant bosses, with seven of these Gothic monstrosities based upon the seven deadly sins. Every time you face a boss you'll have to 'sacrifice' one of your attributes to in order to start each battle, a system designed to add a little more challenge to your traditional boss encounters. You can also revive a fallen foe and consume their attributes if you fail to defeat a big bad, enabling you to tailor the difficulty to suit your play style.
Coming from a studio comprised of staff formerly of Ubisoft, Konami and Blizzard, we're excited to test our mettle against the beasts of Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption sometime in Q3 2018.
Let us know what you make of the launch trailer above and whether or not this indie curio will be making its way onto your Switch in 2018...

Oh neat
Very cool! I'll probably pick this up on Steam because I've been anxious to play this, but if it's good, I'll pick it up again on the Switch.
This looks great....to the point where I may just hold off on Dark Souls Remastered to see how this one turns out.
Sounds like a really interesting concept and looks pretty good too. Will be keeping an eye out for this for sure.
@BraveBiT it's very different from Souls in that it's a boss rush type game. So you can probably get both and be very happy.
Looks fantastic!
very intrigued with this... I hope it comes together!
Intruiged.
Gon' grab
My main problem with this game is it seems to cut out what made the Souls series to awesome to me - the exploration and constant uneasiness that accompanied it. Boss fights are cool and all, but if the game is only 8 bosses and lacks the exploration aspect, I don't see it being a very compelling title for me.
To top it off, being punished for defeating a boss "feels" off - I understand what they are shooting for, and it's an interesting enough mechanic I suppose, but they could have achieved the same end result by allowing you a tough decision of 1 attribute to buff, and simply make the bosses harder to compensate. That would give the player the illusion of progress and becoming stronger, while maintaining the same level of difficulty.
Hopefully they can prove me wrong. There's nothing overly offensive from what I've seen so far, I'm just not overly impressed either.
Another nice "AA" game for Switch. A little off topic, but does anyone remember Maximo? That game was Dark Souls before Dark Souls IMO.
@roadrunner343 it's garbage. it's garbage. Better stick to original Dark Souls. Much better
definitely looks like something I would love to play, very Dark Souls looking! Can't wait!
The trailer felt very off, and the product seemed to lack polish. Safe to say this one did not catch my interest. Maybe in the future if the product is improved upon.
It seems interesting so far.
Looks good. Will try.
I'll give it a try. Dark souls remaster too.
but is it like Dark Souls?
Bring PUBG to Switch Please
@roadrunner343 what? Sinner is just Cuphead in 3D? I was looking forward to exploration and trying to uncover hidden places Is this really just a boss rush game?
@Sgt-Hassan93 Please don't spam the comments sections with port-begging for a mediocre game.
@BlackenedHalo From what I've seen and read so far, yeah - it's pretty much a boss rush game. I'm sure things could change, but some of the articles I've read elsewhere stated there were no minor enemies at all, only bosses.
@Varkster I agree with the spam comment, but likewise, probably not a great idea to incite flame wars by calling one of the most popular games in the world mediocre.
@roadrunner343 well i am dumping with the game!! i have zero interest in the game after all the information... thank you
So.... If this is dark souls without exploration.... Just bosses.... and Dark souls has bosses + exploration.... So just get dark souls for both parts. That was my take away from this....
Still waiting for "Deep Down" -_-
I don't know. In the past, boss fights where the difficult comes from stripping you of the abilities you are used to, generally annoy me. A LOT. But I am sure a lot of fans of this sort of game are gonna be pleased to play on the toilet or at the coffee shop too.
When I first glanced at the headline I thought it said Soul Sacrifice and got excited. That would never happen though, it’s Japan Studio’s. This looks interesting. I’ll keep an eye on it.
@roadrunner343 I don't think a game's popularity should affect my opinion on game and whether I should voice it or not.
This is not like DS. There are a bunch of videos of people playing the first 2 boss. You just go into a stone and fight the boss. Once you kill it - it kicks you out and you go to the next one in the same hub room. They cant even control the camera.
At least that is what the demo is like.
@GraveLordXD Mainly referring to how hard it was for me. 😄
I’m intrigued. I’m not a fan of the models except the one covered in feathers though.
@brandonbwii Ghost and goblins was maximo before maximo was dark souls
I honestly believe that any game which tries to mimic Dark Souls faces an immediate problem in that it is hard to imagine how Dark Souls could be bettered. Lords Of The Fallen had that problem.
@Syntaxkita Yeah I also feel like it seems like they might have just been bottomfeeders from those companies, because this doesn't include any of the originality or professionalism of titles made by these companies. It might sound harsh, but when you namedrop huge companies people expect a professional product.
@Varkster Of course not - but you're clearly directly stating the game is mediocre - not that you personally don't like it - in response to someone that obviously likes the game. Adding the "Mediocre game" bit served no purpose other than intentionally stirring up disagreement. It's as much a spammy response as his request for a port.
