Originally pitched as a Wii U port a few years back, The Next Penelope is finally touching down on a Nintendo console - the Switch, to be precise.
The top-down combat racer will launch on the Switch eShop on December 21st. Seaven Studio appears to be the team behind the port of Aurelien Regard's PC-based original - which, incidentally, we really enjoyed. It's half racer, half shooter and features some massive boss battles which - once complete - give you additional weapons to use.

These amazing Switch games just keep on coming. Will you be loading this one up in time for Christmas?

Yes! YES!
I have this on my PC and keep meaning to play it, but... you know...
Love the SNES Star Fox meets SNES F-Zero vibe it has going for it.
Looks cool!
Now that this shows more gameplay I might get it. But then again my life right now is Xenoblade at the moment.
Played it on steam, it was fun but strikingly short
Looks like my type of game, in other words, it looks amazing!
Wow, looks fantastic!
Top down racers and Shoot-em-ups were 2 of my favourite genres back in the 90's and the Switch has rekindled my love for them big time. I'm soon to be spoiled for choice with even more classic shoot-em-ups and I'm currently playing the best top down racer I've ever played, plus there's another on the way. Now if that's not enough to keep me happy here comes a game with the 2 genres combined. You beauty!
This looks amazing. Price?
I forgot about this game...
Beat bosses to get their weapons? Hmmm.... I wonder where they get that idea from, Mighty No.9 maybe?
@JRJalapeno It's $12.99 on Steam but I've no idea if that was its launch price. It's a couple of years old so hopefully it won't cost any more than that.At worst it will be $14.99. Unless Nicalis get their grubby mitts on it
This looks AWE-SUM!!!!!!!
@OorWullie I got it on sale for a couple of dolars ages ago. Its o.k. I was hyped for this two years ago when it was coming out on the wiiu supposedly.
Let's do the Odyssey.
I remember spotting this as a prospect in a Nindie presentation, but had forgotten all about it.
Looks like a futuristic Super Cars 2.
Bring it on!
Well this looks great, maybe this is the top-down-racer to get on Switch...
Looks pretty rad I give it that, top down racers are decisively not my thing though.
They need to add Penelope Pitstop in the game.

Very impressive for originally being made by one person. This game made me take a look at the Construct 2 game development software, which is pretty good. I was interested in it in the past, and it looks like, depending on price, it'll be a worthy addition to my Switch library.
