VVVVVVery impressive
When VVVVVV burst onto the indie scene in 2010, it was immediately lauded for its simple, addictive gameplay and unique vector visual style. After enjoying quite a bit of success on PC and Mac over the past two years, the game is now making an appearance on a dedicated game system for the first time via Nintendo's 3DS eShop...

News Nicalis Teases VVVVVV and More for the Switch
Along with Code of Princess and 1001 Spikes (maybe!)
Good old Nicalis does like to keep us on our toes. A recent tweet following its time exhibiting at PAX has sent the interwebz into detective mode about which games it will be bringing to the Switch eShop, which hadn't previously been confirmed. Having ploughed through the NeoGAF thread, these...
News VVVVVV Returns To The North American 3DS eShop
All patched up
Terry Cavanagh's punishing platformer VVVVVV has returned to the North American 3DS eShop after a prolonged absence. The game was removed from the store back in May following the discovery of an exploit which allowed users to run unsigned code on their 3DS consoles. If you've not picked it up yet, VVVVVV is on sale at $4.75 for a...
Freakyforms Deluxe joins VVVVVV and Citizens of Earth in eShop abyss
Homebrew is an interesting part of the gaming scene. On the one hand it can be used by fans with coding skill to do intriguing things with hardware, but it also violates terms of use in the act of tampering with the system. Nintendo often moves - rather effectively - to shut...
News VVVVVV Pulled From North American 3DS eShop Following Discovery Of Homebrew Exploit
Haxxor
Super-hard indie platformer VVVVVV has been removed from the North American 3DS eShop following the publication of a homebrew exploit. The vulnerability - exploited by ShinyQuagsire's (v*)hax - is apparently only available in digital version of the game. It requires a "primary" entry point to function - that means another hack in order to...
News Renegade Kid and Nicalis Titles Reduced on eShop Platforms
Ho ho holy moly so many discounts...
It seems that the 3DS and Wii U eShop platforms are going discount crazy, with plenty of reductions in Europe today, more on the way, and now North America happily getting in on the act. Both Renegade Kid and Nicalis are feeling festive, in the former case across regions and the latter just in North America...
Feature Our Top 10 Third-Party 3DS Games - Summer 2013
Going beyond Nintendo
Last week the Nintendo Life staff voted for their favourite 3DS games at the moment, with retail and download-only titles eligible. Getting in before the swathe of hot releases coming in the next few months — kicking off with Animal Crossing: New Leaf this week — it reflected just how far the system's library had come, with...
Nintendo Download 28th June 2012 (North America)
Monkeys, marvels and more
Some quality original content on 3DS and DSi reaches North America this week, with two free demos to pick up as well. Here's what's out this week. Nintendo 3DS Download Software: Marvel Pinball 3D (Zen Studios, $7.99, 661 blocks) — Take four Marvel-themed tables for a spin in Zen Studios' follow-up to its very good Zen...
Feature One Year of the 3DS eShop
Happy birthday!
You might not have noticed with a little thing called E3 going on, but last week the Nintendo 3DS eShop turned one year old. Though the service started slowly, not even making it to the system's launch, it has morphed over the course of the last 12 months to become the decent digital portal that DSiWare and WiiWare should always have...
Nintendo Download 10th May 2012 (Europe)
It's a Virtual Console explosion
As if any further proof were needed that SEGA is the greatest video game company in the whole world, this week it's bringing no fewer than three games to lucky European fans this week. Elsewhere there's a long awaited piece of 3DS download software and an out-of-nowhere DSiWare game too. To the list! 3DS Virtual...
News VVVVVV Set to Flip Into Europe on 10th May
About flippin' time
While gamers in North America have been fortunate enough to enjoy VVVVVV on their 3DS since late last year, those of us in Europe have been patiently — or impatiently — waiting for our own release. After announcing that it expects a European release in early May, publisher Nicalis has now nailed a date down on its Twitter...

I have this on my PC and it is awesome
Fantastic game is fantastic.
Old school platforming bliss cant wait to pick up this gem on my 3DS
It'd be great if we got this game next week.
Hey, whaddya know?
Instant download!
@7 Confirmation of us getting it next week?
Finally dated for EU! 10th May is the day it happens!
I just checked the price for this on Nintendo.co.uk. I've been looking forward to this game for a quite a while now, but £7.20 seems a little steep to me. If Nintendo are going to compete with the likes of Apple in the area of downloadable games they might want to try offering more competitive prices. At £7.20 (around $12) this game is far from being an impulse purchase.
Indeed, and if you compare it to the US price (only 8 dollars) it's crazy.
We're waiting months for this game to get released, and when it finally does we are kind of double punished because of the price..
I'm starting to hate Nicalis.. maybe they just want us to ignore their games..
Nicalis is probably to blame for the delay but I wonder if blame for the cost should be layed at Nintendo's feet. Is it not Nintendo that take the ultimate decision as to what charge bracket a game is put into? I'm sure a Nintendolife staffer could clarify one way or the other (hint).
@Mardt
That is only on WiiWare and DsiWare..
on the 3DS e-shop the publishers are pricing the games as far as I know..
Gee, I waited 6 months for this to come into EU and suddenly it's 8 euros.
I can respect the pure awesomeness of this game but I don't have the nerves or patience to even try this game lol
This game is brutally hard...and that's coming out of someone who has played NES games all of his life. Anyone with a love for the Commodore 64 or ZX Spectrum Aesthetics or the difficulty of IWTBG should check it out.
This game is awesome! The manual is useless, but the rest is just awesome! Was absolutely worth it! My head almost exploded playing through the last levels (last level took me about 2 to 3 hours) but still, it is just awesome!
