I'd happy get an amiibo with Inkling holding the Mini Splatling.
It looks cool, but I never purchased the first Splatling because when I tried it at the Ammo Knights store I couldn't get used to it.
Anyone using these weapons with success?
I'll prefer this if it's lighter and faster!
I've been looking forward to a new Splatling gun since i main the original. Curious to se how this one will be.
@dkxcalibur I had fun with the first Splatling, but the Splattershot Pro is more my style.
I've been using the Heavy Splatling a LOT, it's one of my favourite weapons which I absolutely didn't expect from myself. I'm curious to see how this will compare to the current one. I'm guessing it charges faster but doesn't go as far, maybe a bit less powerful too but with more ink reliable ink coverage. Hrmm. Either way I can't wait to try this one, but not sure if it'll replace the Heavy Splatling for me!
@dkxcalibur It takes a little getting used to, but I fell in love with it quite quickly. You just need to make sure not to be too close to the enemies with these, though. Ink coverage, I feel like charging a shot more aimed at the ground before you and slowly raising your aim works to make a straight line, and strafing from side to side works as well while adjusting your aim up and down. Aside from that, I think this gun also helps in building early paths fairly quickly for teammates in the ranked modes.
@dkxcalibur Not half! I find myself mowing down far more enemies with the Heavy Splatling than anything else so I'm itching to try this new puppy out.
@dkxcalibur I LOVE this gun. I am using Jungle Hat, White Shirt, and White shoes with ink saving, and refill. Tossing walls, refill ink, shoot through the walls.
Well guys, I believe I have some homework this weekend!
I promise to give this gun type another try; and by try I mean that I will purchase it and use it in actual matches.
I just cleaned out Ammo Knights earlier this week. Now I'm all set to buy any new weapons while doing the same to Shrimp Kicks, Jelly Fresh, and Cooler Heads!
I am more interested in the new Sloshers, but I will give this one a try. If Heavy Splatting can be considered a charger, then it is by far my favorite. A nice risk and reward game regarding how long to charge and release.
I've had some great battles with the heavy spatling, but only on some maps. Saltspray Rig, Walleye Warehouse and Moray Towers suits well for this weapon and my style. Good weapon imo.
@dkxcalibur It's actually very easy to use if you get the timing on the charging and the right abilities, it's very useful in splatzones and tower control, its perfect for defending and holding off places from close range players like rollers or aereo spray users. My advice: When using the splatling NEVER go rambo with it as it is a support weapon, instead be a walking turret, when shooting with it always strife to the sides only walk backwards if a roller is trying to reach you or a short range shooter. The best abilities for this weapon is the run speed up and the fast super jump, ink recovery also works well with it.
@dkxcalibur When I use it I normally go above ground to wait for the right moment to jump down and rush in or help teammates. If someone is coming at you throw an Ink wall so u have enough time to charge. while above ground you can get good range for covering turf in ink or sniping.
I'm not that good at this gun type, but will definitely give it a try.
So this one will likely be faster but less powerful. Cool, I disliked the big one...
@dkxcalibur oh yeah, perfect for tower control. You can splat three bad guys positioned on the tower in one charge, then, seize the tower and rain hell on the bad guys as you approach their zone.
I assume it will have a shorter range but a quicker charge.
It's a great gun type, and the only reason I don't use it is the fact that I'm simply great with rollers. I'll give the lightweight version a try though - although I've come to the point where it's not so much the main weapon that suits me, but the subs it's combined with.
It's good to see a different kind of splatling. The big one is great, the only downside for me is its sub weapon, I just don't like ink walls. Here's hoping a great sub weapon for this little one
@Zubei Today, I was raging at some Splatlings on Triggerfish. They kept getting me... again and again... and that splash wall gets on my nervous system
Cool.
Haven't got used to the splatling gun yet, but some people can really aggravate me with it! Lol
It doesn't suit me nintendolife if it's not a roller!
Splatling gun is good for long distance and breaking the shield off in rain mode
I'm not a big fan of the Splatling Gun, it's not really my style. I might like the Mini one better if it charges up faster, but I still think I'm gonna keep using my Slosher.
@dkxcalibur I haven't mastered it yet but I get regularly splatted by Splatling guns, so I'd say yes, there are people using these weapons with success.
I was able to take out more enemies than before, but I was also vulnerable in short-range combat. It's so different from the usual because I like to move fast, sneak up on my opponent and (aero)spray them while jumping. I can't do that with the Splatling. ^^ But the hardest adjustment for me is that I have to charge first and can't react quickly (when an enemy is in close range).
@sinalefa Absolutely, it's a charger with high fire rate.
@erv Definitely! I also look for the sub and special weapon first. Sure, there are some main weapons I prefer (Aerosprays, Splattershots, Splash-o-matic, Zappers, Squelchers, Splatlings), but without the right setup they can be useless to me.
@Freeon-Leon You and me both! When the first Splatling was released, I was unhappy with the standard loadout, so I was hoping alternate versions would be coming soon. I was expecting something more like a Custom Heavy Splatling, but a Mini Splatling could be even better! Hopefully it charges superfast while also having some decreased, but still decent range. I don't care if it has less damage, it doesn't matter with that firerate and one could also just equip a damage item.

Guys, I wanted to thank everyone for "pushing me off the ledge". I spent some decent playing time with the original Splatling. My first real match, I was saying that the gun sucked but I forced myself to give it one more try. I played the second match with more reserve and ended the match with my team winning and me in first with 7 kills - 0 deaths. By far, one of my best matches since owning the game. I was able to control the entire middle portion of the maps I played completely by myself with no help from teammates. I did so good with the original that I purchased the mini too. I didn't play much with the mini but my first impression is that it might do better on tight maps. Anyways, thanks guys! I gave everyone a shout out on Miiverse for the help.
@dkxcalibur Nice to hear!
I actually played with the two Splatlings myself at the weekend, because I also wasn't that firm with them and hadn't won many games with the Heavy Splatling before. It did in fact get better and I won some matches - especially with the Mini Splatling which comes closer to the Aerospray that I'm so used to by now - but I still have to further adjust to it.
Eventually I ended up trying out lots of different weapons at that weekend, like the Zapper, the Jet Squelcher and the Dual Squelcher. It was actually fun because in several matches I was not only the best in my team but also got way more kills than usual.
It's still a challenge to me though because I'm soo used to close-range combat with the Aero Spray, especially in moments when I play intuitively, I tend to swim up right in front or behind an enemy and then often get killed because those "new" weapons aren't that useful in close-range. So I have to force myself to be more distant with the Splatlings and Squelchers. But I want to bring more variety into my play styles, so I'll continue to do that.
@shani The Jet Squelcher was my weapon of choice before jumping to the Splatling. They have similar play-styles but the Squelcher family allows for more run & gun, the Splatling allows you to cover way more territory I think. For both I find that I have to keep an eye out for rollers!
