It's the season for being a little lazy, which can certainly include sitting around watching a lot of films, TV shows and online videos. For Nintendo fans, it's not hard to find enjoyable snapshots of entertainment to chill out with.
Case in point is this short effort from hugely popular YouTube channel Vsauce3, which covers seven facts on the Nintendo 64 against the backdrop of some neat stop-motion animation. We see the console and its controller dismantled, and a few of the facts on the tech behind the hardware are particularly interesting.
You may already know it all with the N64, but this is still worth a watch.

Ha, this is a neat vid!
Very cool video. My personal favorite consol. I remember getting it Christmas 1996 with Super Mario 64, and loving every bit of it.
@Whopper744 So LIKEWISE!

Great video but the music was so disorientating.

we always knew you had what it takes!
yer on yer way to the top now!
I saw this video. It had too many qualitative facts. It didn't have many quantitative facts like the predecessor videos would have.
Did they really destroy an n64 case to do the cut away scenes?
They forgot to mention that the N64 was the first system that had four controller ports built-in. I'm glad I still have my N64 & games.
I liked a couple off N64 games such as mario 64 but overall i wasn't a fan of it. Too many games embracing the new 3d fad.
The N64 is the only Nintendo console I have never owned nor played any games from. Soon I'll have to pick it up and play all the wonderful games I've missed.
It's fun to watch them take it apart like that. Just watched the Wii U one, too.
It's a bummer that the N64 relied so heavily on 3D games and didn't really harness the extra horse power on higher resolution sprite effects. But I guess we were in a transition to 3D so everyone had to show off what they could do.
@OneBagTravel The transition to 3D was a bit painful wasn't it? 2D games vanished and only a few 3D games really had tight controls or great game play. Even the fall to 30 fps was pretty tough for me to take. One reason I loved consoles over PC gaming back then was that silky smooth frame rate and tight controls. Suddenly everything got choppy and ugly overnight! Still loved a few of them, though. Mostly the obvious ones.
We have SO many options now, though. I'd call it a gaming renaissance but I don't see the appreciation for it all yet. The masses still don't study it, but simply play it and maybe argue about their favorites.
