It has been confirmed during today's Nintendo Direct that Intelligent Systems' tactical RPG Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS next Spring.
The title was first announced during E3, which makes this launch surprisingly swift. Nintendo has confirmed that the European release will happen in May.
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. mixes turn-based elements with first-person sections, and boasts a unique cel-shaded look.

This looks more appealing every time I see it. Can't wait!
Loved it from the announcement and I've seen nothing to change my opinion. Can't wait for this one.
This looks very fun, I'll be sure to look out for this later of next year.
Would be perfect for a new 3DS bundle, about 1:30 into the video there is camera control for the nub.
May 2015? The Nintendo EU/UK Twitter Account said so.
This one had slipped under the radar a bit, but i have a feeling it will be a huge hit and maybe the start of a franchise. Hey!!! Wheres everyone gone.....??? Oh, right.....Shovel Knight.....lol
Getting this it's interesting i don't care what anybody say about this.
This trailer sold me on the game. It looks like a lot of fun
Game looks great and I love Advance Wars and Fire Emblem.....this is probably a game I will get....Maybe my 3DS will get used again
This looks AMAZING! Launch Day purchase for me.
This is high on my list for next year! I should be slowing down on MH4U by then.
I love Intelligent Systems. They never fail to delight me!
@gerbwmu
If this is anywhere near as good as Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, I'll be happy. I've put in so many hours into those two games.
This will be great, can't wait. I'm guessing the unannounced IS 3DS game (90% chance to be advance wars) will likely be a holiday game then.
Wow, between this and Majora's Mask spring is going to be great on the 3DS.
Great trailer, starting to look really cool! However, cel-shading is not being employed.
The cel shading still kind of bothers me but the gameplay looks deep and fun. More than likely day 1 for me.
already preordered this badboy
this really looks fun, cant wait for it.
This still looks pretty dumb.
The look is growing on me, but I love all the famous fiction/non-fiction characters for some reason. It's nutty and original and best of all the gameplay mechanics are smart, new, and seem deep. It's the type of game I wish I had more time for but I might make time for.
(Would be so much more pleased with a Wii U version, gotta say.)
@Pixel-Perfect Dumb? :/ Do you maybe mean that the over-the-top style and/or story doesn't appeal to you? What I've seen from the game displays tons of deep thinking and smart creativity and while maybe the style is a misstep, someone put a lot of effort into it and it's consistent and recognizable. It comes from an experienced developer and it shows. Just having a hard time applying the word "dumb" here.
I must say... this trailer definitely got my attention. I love the Advance Wars series and I definitely trust Intelligent Studios. I'm considering this game, but I'm not sold yet. The gameplay and characters feel very original. My eyes will be peeled for more info on this game...
Seeing a lot of Valkyria Chronicles in here. Which is great news
Great game. And that cel shading comic style reminds me of the wonderful Viewtiful Joe!
A new Intelligent Systems game, and it looks good so far. Can't wait to try it out. Plus I need more strategy games on my 3DS.

I'm still enjoying Fire Emblem: Awakening on my 3DS so I'm pumped for a unique strategy game to be released by Intelligent Systems. So far the premise for using real people from the past mixed with fictional characters from that time period sounds awesome. The comic book style looks cool. This was the highlight of the "direct" for me.
I'm interested but I'm not sold on this yet. I am, however, sold on Intelligent Systems, so I'll keep looking at this but something about it just doesn't strike me as "must play" material.
Welcome to Super Smash Bros 5!
Great to have a new Intelligent Systems release this spring!
Can't wait for this, love turn-based strategy. The art style is a nice change of pace, it reminds me of Freedom Force.
@aaronsullivan That's fair. To be more specific, the art style and the setting are stupid. Obviously that's in my opinion.
I am not very fond of the graphics (this looks like it easily could have been done on the DS), but I might give it a try. I like Fire emblem and Advance wars. And a new franchise, I can applaud that.
