It's Japanese chart time. Hooray! Though this week doesn't reflect complete Nintendo dominance. Boo!
But still, this week's results bring us a few interesting points; Atlus title Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl makes its debut in third place — it's a re-telling of the first entry in the series, of sorts — behind new titles on PS3 and PS Vita. A spate of new releases also sees Animal Crossing: New Leaf finally fall out of the top 10; lifetime sales are in parenthesis below.
1. [PS3] Gundam Breaker – 200,564 (New)
2. [PSV] Toukiden – 122,794 (New)
3. [3DS] Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl – 88,278 (New)
4. [PSP] Toukiden – 66,016 (New)
5. [PS3] Atelier Escha & Logy: The Alchemist of Dusk Sky – 57,550 (New)
6. [3DS] Digimon World Re: Digitize Decode – 34,350 (New)
7. [3DS] Tomodachi Collection: New Life – 34,254 (1,201,787)
8. [PS3] The Last of Us – 32,472 (149,938)
9. [3DS] Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D – 27,725 (174,541)
10. [PS3] Date A Live: Rinne Utopia – 23,340 (New)
11. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 12,834 (3,303,681)
12. [PSP] Urakata Hakuouki – 12,247 (New)
13. [3DS] Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – 11,510 (805,029)
14. [PS3] The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition – 7,841 (New)
15. [PS3] Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – 6,813 (New)
16. [PS3] The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd HD Edition – 5,970 (New)
17. [PSP] Starry Sky: After Autumn Portable – 5,550 (New)
18. [Wii] Taiko Drum Master Wii Super Wonderful Edition – 4,847 (506,998)
19. [PSP] Onigakko! Portable – 4,159 (New)
20. [3DS] Kuma Tomo – 4,124 (16,829)
On the hardware front, 3DS LL (XL) holds off a Vita resurgence helped along by software number two Toukiden, while the standard model maintains its performance; the Wii U also saw a small increase, but nothing substantial — last week's sales are in parenthesis.
3DS LL – 33,272 (28,281)
PlayStation Vita – 31,271 (13,422)
3DS – 17,440 (14,988)
PlayStation 3 – 12,554 (9,816)
Wii U – 7,060 (5,329)
PSP – 6,492 (5,091)
Wii – 1,338 (1,234)
Xbox 360 – 330 (282)
Not quite the usual Nintendo dominance this week, but hardly a disaster. It's also a small positive to see Wii U sales rise slightly with no high-profile releases, ahead of the release of Pikmin 3 later this month.

I hope they bring more jprpgs here!
I can't believe how well New Leaf is still selling considering it was released in Japan LAST NOVEMBER.
Oh, poor Digimon. Localization. de-confirmed.
Although 1/3 the size of the USA, why do Japanese sales always seem drastically lower?
Why not just combine the two 3ds models, its the same console
I really don't understand why they differentiate between the 3DS and the 3DS XL. There's a plethora of PS3 versions out there as well, for example, and yet it gets ony a single entry.
Usually this further drives home the 3DS's dominance, of course, seeing as how they tend to occupy the top 2 spots. It's still weird, though.
this makes me happy :3 can't wait to pick it up this fall!
I apologize in advance for my question. In the console sales, what is the number not in parentheses?
@subie98 i believe it's the number of units sold for the past week, i could be wrong though
current week sales (prior week sales)
Why do they release exact figures in Japan but not elsewhere. It would be fascinating to see more precise figures for the UK, for example.
Hm, nice to see Vita sales go up this week. I expect it to go back down to 10-15k next week or the week after. Western sales are probably in the hundreds or low thousands every week.
Looks like the PS Vita is picking up. Or at least in Japan.
I am going to get Millennium Girl when it first comes out.
I always laugh at the 360 sales.
Some decent PSVita numbers, but still nothing to be happy about, the most important things if Toukiden will ever have legs or no (we will see next week and the week after that)...
Nice WiiU raise, with 0 games, 7k its an awful number but, for a console thats been doing so bad on a weekly basis, thats something at least, again, nothing to be happy about it
the 3DS its just on a "wall", MH4 and Pokemon X/Y should bring that back to the 100k per week
Im happy for the Vita (competition ITS GOOD, it keeps companies on their toes and prices down) but 30k with a game that sold 120k ? mmm
September-October should be some beatiful months for the 3DS, Dream team and another high profile games should keep the system on good numbers
But at the end, besides the 3DS, everything its pretty much dead on Japan, the Vita got a good week, but thats about it, it was selling 10-12k per week, so it was obvious that a good game should bust that a bit
@Subie98 Numbers for the week before this
I'm surprised at how well Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is doing.
DKCR (Wii) sold around 900k on Japan
@CrissCross87 because these are weekly numbers where as in the west we measure monthly sales, perhaps?
@One-Winged-Pit lol who isn't? i kno i'll be on that preorder list :3
