Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: How To Defeat Emperor Ing 1

We've come a long way in our Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Boss Fight guides, so it's time to take on one of the final bosses, the Emperor Ing in the Sky Temple.

The big daddy of the Ing himself stands between us and victory, so let's teach him a lesson.

How to defeat the Emperor Ing

In the first phase, the Emperor Ing will flail its tentacles to attack you. Shoot the tentacles to make them retract into its body. When all the tentacles have retracted, it will strike with its eye using a laser that will stagger us if we let the Emperor Ing land a hit. Aim between the two shields guarding the eye and fire to damage it. Keep up this pattern until you take it down, and the next phase of the fight will begin.

The second phase will start when the Emperor Ing closes itself off inside a chrysalis. This phase consists of treating the entire body of the emperor as a spider track and rolling all around it, damaging the glowing weak spots with ball bombs and power bombs. Watch out when you break a weak point; a tentacle will come out and may knock you off of the boss.

In the third and final phase, Emperor Ing will burst out of the chrysalis, revealing it has mutated into a giant alien. Gross. The Mutated Emperor Ing can attack you by charging at you, firing lasers in a random pattern, and unleashing a large jumping shockwave. It may also occasionally summon a flock of Nightbarbs to defend it.

As for taking it down, on the body will be a large glowing mouth; aim for this spot to damage it. We recommend using as much firepower as possible to damage the boss, such as Super Missiles. After damaging it for a while, its mouth will glow red like it is on fire. Keep up the firepower until this glow changes purple or white. Use the opposing Dark or Light beam to damage it accordingly. Using the Annihilator beam will be more useful as it can cause both types of damage in a fight.

Reward for beating the Emperor Ing

Keep up the fire, and the so-called "Emperor" Ing will fall at your feet. You've done it; you've saved Aether! Your reward? Eight minutes to escape the Sky Temple. RUN!
