Review Library Of Ruina (Switch) - Potential Aplenty, But Just Doesn't Stack Up
My library's in ruins
This review text has been updated to include additional narrative impressions and late-game thoughts. Library of Ruina is less than the sum of its parts. While this visual novel's dialog sets up a well-established, deep world with interesting characters, its grindy repetitiveness eschews plenty of opportunities to make the...

This game is utterly fantastic. It's definitely a specific genre, and if you're not a fan it may just not be for you, but if it happens to be up your alley I can guarantee you won't find a better experience elsewhere.
The story is fantastic and engaging, the characters are compelling, the gameplay is fun to puzzle out over the more than a hundred hours of content, and the presentation is overflowing with style. Every little menu and line displays a level of care and love that is rare to see so abundantly. The game features both Korean and Japanese VAs, and while I prefer the original version the JP voice-overs are not bad.
If you enjoy story-heavy games, turn-based deckbuilding, or cyberpunk-fantasy-eldritch dystopias, don't hesitate to check out Library of Ruina today.
If you have Steam, though, I would recommend that version instead. Workshop support opens up all the incredible designs from the modding community which has easily added hundreds more hours of content for me.
We have reported to the Hana Association of this situation. Expect actions maybe be taken against you as you are the only one remaining of this sector under Zwei Association jurisdiction as we are lacking sufficient personnel to resolve this problem.
This review sucks. Written by someone who only played up to the start of Urban Myth. Calling the story slow is ridiculous when that is literally the start of any story. It takes roughly 2-3 hours to reach Kamoshida in Persona (since he made a one off P5R comparison that didn't make sense) which is the same as reaching end of Urban Legend/early Urban Plague depending how good you are at card games. He got so many things wrong that it just didn't feel like a proper review. Please get someone else to do it or else mindwhip with +10 dice power. I have no clue how the menus are on Switch, so just play it on PC to judge the story and gameplay.
Miss Angela decided to hand over me a short task to comment on this review section.
..I'm in no position to judge someone for their misunderstanding of Roland's status in The City but calling him a "street thug" is, well- a bit far. They didn't put in enough time to learn more about Roland, miss Angela and including me with the other Patron Librarians.
I must return back to sorting books out and... Talk with miss Angela about the other Patron Librarians that commented previously on the review. She doesn't seem too happy about it, and I doubt she wouldn't throw a tantrum over this. Hopefully, she doesn't tear mister Roland's limbs apart again.
..I can already hear his screams from the General Works.
the game is good i hate muties tho.
they piss me off so bad.
i hate all of them.
and that review was terrible. definetly written by a mutie.
Nice game, nice cutscene, jp voice cool but boring gameplay
"Are you the manager? I look forward to working with you if that's the case. I hope you'll use me where I'm needed."
I recommend playing Library of Ruina, it has a good story, many unique characters, one of which will definitely take a place in your heart sooner or later
(+ a very wonderful OST and a friendly, creative closely-knit fandom)
Unless, of course, you are a casual player who is intimidated by small difficulties and the need to think, he-he
P.s. To the author of that “not entirely objective” 4/10 review:
Beatdown
Blunt: 18~37
On Clash Win: All dice on target’s page lose 5 Power
The statements in this review are somehow a bigger fraud than me.
