Review Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)
Hitting top gear
Opting for enhanced and expanded deluxe / director's cut / remastered / Game of the Year editions of last-gen games is a well-worn tactic in the early days of a new console. Some of the most enjoyable games on PS4 and Xbox One are high quality re-releases, taking a top-notch title and sprucing it up for a new generation with all of...

Review Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass - A Great Big Track Pack For Switch's Best Racer
Double-Dashed
It was a long time coming, but the ambitious Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC expansion is finally complete, roughly 20 months after the launch of the first wave. Available as a separate purchase or as part of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, this DLC contains an additional 48 tracks, eight new playable...
Fine finale
It feels like a lifetime ago since Nintendo announced that it would be expanding Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the Booster Course Pass, adding a total of 48 courses made up of revamped classics and brand-new additions. But does the expansion end with a bang or a whimper? Well, much like prior waves, we’d say this one lands somewhere in the...
Bidet boost
Gosh, the end is actually in sight now, huh? Yes, Wave 5 for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is finally here, bringing us one step closer to the grand finale with another batch of new and remade Mario Kart content. The best wave yet
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is back with Wave 4 (of six) of the Booster Course Pass tracks, this time covering the Fruit Cup and Boomerang Cup. Now that we’re over the halfway point, it really feels like Nintendo is starting to kick things into high gear with not only a stellar set of new and returning tracks but also an extra character...
Mini Review Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 3 (Switch) - The Best Set Of Tracks Yet
This is more like it!
Nintendo is back with another wave of eight courses for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, bringing us to the halfway point of its overall road map. Now we're up to a total of 24 new tracks over six unique cups, but so far, the output has been a bit mixed: we’ve had some bonafide classics like Coconut Mall and...
A stumbling sophomore outing
After the launch of Wave 1 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass, everyone and their nan turned their attention towards Wave 2; specifically, when on earth it would be coming out. Excitment reached fever pitch (just check out the comments section of any Mario Kart Tour related content if you don't believe us!), so...
The Tour begins
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the most popular game on Switch, the very definition of an 'evergreen' title. Aside from the Battle Mode and a few minor changes, however, devoted fans have been playing the same content since the Wii U original with its DLC content, a scenario that finally changes with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe-exclusive Booster...

But Black Ops 6 takes the gold

However, the region is once again demonstrating its love for shooting bad guys and shooting balls into goals, because...

Talking Point What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th October)
Is there an echo in here? in here..? in here......?
Well folks, another week and come and (almost) gone, and it's been another fun-filled one in the world of Nintendo. First up, our preview for Super Mario Party Jamboree went live and we think it's looking absolutely fabulous so far. We also got a look at a rather fetching
UK Charts Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Can't Quite Beat The Might Of EA Sports FC 25
Settling for silver
The latest UK charts data is here and, to our genuine surprise, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sadly didn't nab the top spot this week. Instead, the newly released EA Sports FC 25 has managed to beat the competition to claim the prize. It's an unfortunate outcome, though hardly a disastrous one. After all, these are just...
Japanese Charts Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Surpasses 6 Million Units Sold
Pole position
The latest boxed charts data from Japan is now available courtesy of Famitsu, and once again, we can see that the Switch is still comfortably dominating in the region both with hardware and software sales. Astro Bot is the only representative from Sony's PS5 platform. Frankly, it's mad that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe keeps selling so well...
UK Charts Another Quiet Week Underscores The Need For Something New
Zelda would do nicely
The latest UK Charts are in and, look, we'll be honest folks, it's not a particularly spectacular week in the land of gaming; particularly for Nintendo fans (though that will no doubt change when Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom drops). At the top, PS5's Astro Bot has managed to claim victory after a bit of a slower than expected...
UK Charts Warhammer Dominates While Only One Nintendo Title Makes The Top 10
No prizes for guessing which...
After a pretty lengthy delay, we finally have a look at the latest UK charts, and it's not a great top 10 for the Switch. In fact, only one Nintendo title has made it into the upper echelons this time, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (surprise, surprise) nabbing eighth place. Elsewhere, the other platforms dominate...
Japanese Charts Mario Kart Speeds Back Into Top Three As Switch Stays In Control
Surprise, surprise
After last week's new releases, the Japanese charts this time around are a little less surprising (thanks, Famitsu). There's a newcomer at the top spot, as the catchily-titled visual novel The Hokkaido Serial Murder Case: The Okhotsk Disappearance – Memories in Ice, Tearful Figurine racked up 20,919 sales in its debut week...

Preview Battle Mode is Back On Form in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Back with a vengeance
We had one major complaint with Mario Kart 8 when we reviewed it on Wii U - its so-called Battle Mode was lazy and barely worth a look. It simply took place on Grand Prix tracks, so you'd drive around unaware of where your foes were (as a track map wasn't added until a post-launch update), which was a vacuous and pointless...
First Impressions Back on Track with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Switching gear
Given that a number of gamers who pick up the Nintendo Switch may not have owned a Wii U, it makes a lot of sense to have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the launch window for the new system. Not only is it one of the most fun games on the Wii U, but it has also been the best-selling too — with over eight million copies sold worldwide...
About The Game
With Nintendo Switch, fans can enjoy the definitive version of Mario Kart 8 anywhere, anytime, even with up to 8 friends in local wireless multiplayer.
All your favourite tracks and characters return from the Wii U version, plus all DLC tracks and characters, and new characters join the roster, too: Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl from Splatoon, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr.! Plus, battle Mode has been revamped and includes Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast, with all-new courses such as Urchin Underpass and Battle Stadium, and returning ones like (GCN) Luigi's Mansion and (SNES) Battle Course 1. Players can now carry two items at a time, including new items returning from previous Mario Kart games such as Boo, the item-stealing ghost, and the Feather, which gives you a high jump in battle mode. Players can even choose to use a new Smart Steering feature which makes driving and staying on the track easy for novice players and kids, even at 200cc. Play in TV mode in up to 1080p.

its going to be a port
MK 8.5 ... I'll still buy it.
They seemed to fix that microstutter crap
@Cooligan well at least it's technically getting remastered so it will look and run better and there might new features to
I don't mind that it's only MK8 with new characters, battle mode, and double items. MK8 is hands down the best in the series and I'm glad it's being ported to the Switch in 1080p!
Until late April, I'll continue playing MK8 on the Wii U! See you at the starting line! Either on Wii U or Switch on April 28!
Looks just fantastic and definitely worth buying again!
I loved Mario kart 8 with the DLC 1&2 on the wii u I can not wait to play it on the Nintendo switch.
I will just stick with the Wii U version of MK8 with the DLC packs and free online play, and plus I won't pay full price for MK8D just for stuff that nintendo should have patched into the Wii U to start with.
Can't wait for this one
I hope it gets DLC of its own beyond the Wii U DLC.
Will get if price goes down because I have the Wii U one
My WiiU is stored away now I've got my Switch making this a must buy. Hopefully there will be more DLC incoming too.
The only reason I ever buy the Mario Kart games is Battle Mode's survival mode. This is a deal breaker for me. How hard is to actually have this option? Why must they take away things that worked in the past?
Having a hard time splitting a single Joy con for two players
Great game, but I might never be able to drift as good as some so I will just hope for many red and blue shells to cause chaos.
I haven't got the Wii U DLC so I might as well just buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for a whole new experience.
This is a game I loved because the graphics are good the battle and racing mode are fun, I heard the game is basically Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U but can't tell personally because I never owned a Wii U but I know for certain that this is a very good game and one of the best titles currently available on the Nintendo switch so I highly recommend it!
Best Mario Kart ever!
And my girlfriend likes it too. Its so reassuring when your girlfriend plays some videogames with you.

best racing game on the switch, period
Great game even though I primarily play it on the switch lite. The courses are beautiful and interesting and the game play is fast paced and fun.
Mario Kart 8 attempts to restore the series to glory after the less-than-epic but still popular entries for the Wii & 3DS. While it does smooth the roughest gameplay elements of its immediate predecessors, Mario Kart 8 attempts to make up for the series's other recent shortcomings with gaudiness and a huge number of cart customization options and tracks. Mario Kart 8 is easily the best entry in the series in more than 15 years, but while it's a competent & carefully crafted game it still lacks that certain combination of skill and focused mayhem that early entries in the series created so well.
Score: 8/10
Mario kart is awesome on the switch regardless which version u tried what u expected from classic Mario kart u have switch levels 3ds and ds gba n64 SNES race tracks online play more features than before it’s retro as ever but everytime it renevents itself on every console Plus its Mario so it’s one Nintendo money maker games also includes all the retro classics u might think weren’t on switch actually are so money well spent look at it this way PlayStation 5 or x box costs more but u can find everything on Nintendo also has classics retro been around longer than PlayStation or x box so plus you have 2 ways of play modes which. U don’t get on either PS5 or Xbox so bare that in mind and it costs u more for online play plus Xbox PlayStation are not capabilities every time new console releases plus there’s big price comparison to it all so let’s not have biased opinion on Nintendo and there games look search don’t judge console by its cover if u never played it or it’s games
@Fandabidozi its here
Blue shells are going to be the death of me.
It annoys me how they called it 'deluxe' when only a handful of cruddy characters were thrown in!
this game is so fun👌
