Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre is a piece of software designed for visitors to the Louvre Museum in France. This piece of downloadable software allows you to enjoy the Nintendo 3DS audio guide that is used in the museum itself in the comfort of your own home.

The software can be used in all sorts of ways: simulate your route around the museum before visiting, or simply use it as a starting point for developing a deeper appreciation of art.

Take a virtual tour of the Louvre

Wonderful photographs and audio commentaries allow you to appreciate the Louvre’s artworks at your own pace. Use the floor maps provided to find your way around the museum, and even take a virtual tour of the Louvre’s enormous exhibition spaces. The software also includes 3D models and high-resolution images of certain artworks, making it an enjoyable experience that’s only available on Nintendo 3DS!

Important note: In order to use this software, you must have performed system update 4.1.0 or a more recent update on your Nintendo 3DS. You can find details on how to check your system update version and perform a quick and easy system update at the System Updates section on our support site.

* This software is exclusively for use on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS. It cannot be used on Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL, Nintendo DS Lite or Nintendo DS systems.

* This software can be purchased via the Nintendo eShop when the Nintendo 3DS system is connected to the Internet.

* 1.8GB (14,395 blocks) or more of free memory space is required in order to store this software on your console. Because of space occupied by pre-installed software etc., this software cannot be downloaded onto a 2GB SD card. Software updates will increase the amount of memory required by the software. * You can only appreciate the 3D effect of Nintendo 3DS on the system itself. All screenshots and footage on this site as captured in 2D mode.

Create your own original trails

Create your own trail around the Louvre by selecting a number of its recommended artworks. The software will guide you around your selected artworks in the shortest possible amount of time.

Museum Mode

When you’re actually inside the Louvre Museum itself, using Museum Mode allows you to enjoy the Louvre’s official audio commentary. Explore the entire museum without getting lost by using Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre to show where you're standing at any time.

The Louvre Museum's digital audio guide service, which uses the Nintendo 3DS system, was launched in April 2012.

Please note: in Museum Mode, sounds will not be played from the Nintendo 3DS system's built-in speakers. Please use headphones.

The Winged Victory of Samothrace, an artwork kept at the Louvre Museum, is currently undergoing restoration, and has been removed from its regular location as a result. Guests will not be able to see this artwork between September 2013 and summer 2014. As a result, the Masterpieces Tour recommended trail, which includes this piece, will not be available in Museum Mode in Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre during this time. The artwork can still be viewed within the software during the period it is not displayed in the museum itself.
