Even well after the honeymoon phase, I can easilly say that Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game ever. Not only did it bring Mario into the modern gaming age graphically, but the gameplay mechanics are right out of my childhood, imagining what a "Super Mario Bros. 8" would be like in the year 2007. A part of it may just be nostalgia, in that sense, but the enjoyment that I got playing through this game was something I've not felt for a platformer sinse Yoshi's Island nearly 14 years prior. Super Mario Galaxy is really a perfect balance of fun new ideas and a reminder of why I fell in love with Nintendo in the first place. No Wii owner should be without this in there collection.

You should not hesitate getting the game. It's one of the best video games of all time and easily the top Wii game. In fact, unless the PS3's or 360's exclusives prove me wrong, it's the best game of this generation to me.
You'll spend a long time playing this classic game, don't you denide it. When you buy the game, you will be captured by it's charm until the very end. The gameplay is so amazing, I can't describe it. The music is flat-out increabile, this sets the standard of musics too. The graphics also looks beatiful to look at and the art style only makes it better. You'll also love what little story it has. On top of that, perfect controls.
I've never thought I would do this, but this game deserve a perfect 10/10. You must get this game.

Well said. That's pretty much my exact experience, in particular with regards to it looking and playing the way I imagined the future of Mario to look back in my younger days, except even more remarkable than I could have envisioned.

What's my opinion on Super Mario Galaxy? It's the best 3D Mario game ever, not to mention just flat out best 3D platformer ever, and the second-best Mario game ever. Sorry, Super Mario World will always have that special place in my heart, but this game came so close to replicating the feelings I have when playing SMW. To me, that's just flat-out amazing when you factor in nostalgia. I can't not love this game.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
The true spiritual sequel to Mario 64. And I LOVE Mario 64. Definitely 10/10! I'm a little nervous about playing the Luigi Purple Coin Star now. My wii and I won't be in the same country for a while, but I'm really disappointed I couldn't complete it as Mario before I left. I have something like 90-100 stars.

Is a great game. I enjoyed it way more than SM64 and 1000 times more than sunshine. With that saidm I'll sell this game to buy New Super mario bros wii because that's a REAL mario game. SMG It still has the problems of the 3D Marios: long levels, too puzzled oriented, and very few replay value since the SM64 days and counting.
I finished the game, liked the ending...and never touched it again. Unlike NSMB on DS which I finished it like 4 times and I still enjoy it, SMG is just a one-time ride. A good one yeah but only for the mega Nintenod fanboys.
I'm pretty much the reverse: I enjoyed NSMB, but after beating it had no inclination to replay. It just wasn't particularly inventive or inspired, and had way too many generic, unmemorable stages. Galaxy, on the other hand, feels like real Mario game more than just about any, regardless of the fact that it's 3D.

It's not just every individual element that stands out, but what truly makes is great is how all these pieces fit together and feel balanced to create one great experience.
Overrated. That's what I think of it. The levels are too small, there's not enough exploration and I miss the challenge of past Mario games. It's still a nice game with some great ideas and moments, and it sure is better than SMS, but overall not the masterpiece I thought it would turn out to be. I had more fun playing the demo levels than the overall game in the end.
I've never completed the game (properly), but breezed through the first 80 or so stars and finished the story. Once the purple coin challenges started becoming available then my progress became much slower, some of these challenges are really annoying and just plain unfair. I got up to 110 stars and gave up and am not planning to retrieve the rest. For these reasons i think the game is unbalanced, way too easy at first, then far too difficult at the end. Yes the game has wonderful graphics and sound but some of the level designs don't match up to the standard of former games... Mario 64 is STILL my favourite Mario game and I much prefer the good ole' N64 pad to the Wii Nunchuck analog stick.
