You really don't need to point that out and it is probably the worst way to start a negative rant.
Its like when people refuse to listen to Radiohead because they are "overrated". Its all good and well to say that you don't like their music but not if the basis for your not liking them is that everyone else rates them highly. Refusing to listen to them doesn't grant you super indie cred and not liking them doesn't mean that everyone else must be deluded.

lol? It's probably the worst way of criticizing somebody's opinion to misinterpret him the whole time. Where did I say I disliked SMG because it's overrated? I think it's a good game, but not a great one and I see people loving it, so...it's overrated in my opinion. Not the other way around. If I wouldn't have been giving examples for why I don't think it's TEH UBERGAME!1, then you would have had an opportunity to attack me, but not in this case. And why would I come to a place like this, where obviously lots of SMG fans are, to get "indie cred" by stating I don't think it's the masterpiece everybody makes it out to be? Next time: Please hold your fingers for a second, think a bit and only THEN start posting. Thanks.
@KeeperBvK I was just pointing out saying that something highly rated is in your opinion "overrated" just makes you look like an ass. Because its rated so highly everyone who doesn't think that its the "greatest ever" is going to have to have the opinion that its overrated.
I just hope Super Mario Galaxy 2 ups the difficulty. A blazed through this game 120 stars with both Mario and Luigi with little to no trouble. I needs a challenge!
I think the biggest problem for game designers is balancing the difficulty. What for some people is too easy is hard as hell for others and maybe vice versa. And as game designer you can not please everybody.
In my opinion Nintendo did it just right with Galaxy. You can easy play through the game with 60 Stars and 4 Big Stars but getting all 241 can be kinda hard. You can't deny that there are some really tricky ones.
I definitely hope that Galaxy 2 is not much harder because then it might be frustrating as Mario Sunshine again.
My memory isn't serving me correctly right now. What is the program they are working on that that let's you skip sections of the game that are too hard for you?
I hope this encourages developers to not shy away from making their games more of a challenge. I can only think of three stars I considered tricky.
Some levels of galaxy are very very easy - but it is the same with M-64 and Sunshine.... its called a learning curve, look at the first level of M-64, you cannot fall off, pretty straightfoward objectives...
Sunshine is probably a little harder overall, (not counting the idiot coin searches) but M64 and galaxy are about equal difficulty.
Galaxy has a handful of secrets and some pretty tough stages. The sequel is reportably more difficult. But there is not a lot of change in difficulty of 3-d Marios.....
Yeah - the sequel should be awesome, is it 1rst quarte of next year?
Ben Cartwright: You and your education. Adam Cartwright: Education is progress! Now what have you got against it? Ben Cartwright: I don't have anything against education - as long as it doesn't interfere with your thinking!
Yes! The hint system. That's what it was called. This could be blessing and a curse. Blessing in the point I made earlier about allowing developers to up the difficulty without having to worry about the casuals bawwing. A curse in the sense a lot of people may abuse it and ruin games entirely.
I agree with the OP up there. One of two games is the best of this generation to me: that or Metal Gear Solid 4. As far as the Wii is concerned, Super Mario Galaxy is its pride and joy. I didn't particularly expect it either, but it's at least on par with Mario 64 and my favorite Mario game since the first Super Mario Bros. and more than makes up for the Super Mario Sunshine disappointment.
To me Galaxy didn't do anything groundbreaking, one of the best wii games I would agree with that, not every game has to change the face of gaming, and I personally don't think of Galaxy as a defining game, good fun and pretty to look at, but if any wii game was to define the era to me that game is Little Kings Story.
Probably wont make much of a difference, those that want to use guides will use it, those that don't wont.
I'm not really a huge fan of it. Mainly, because if you need a guide, you can go look on gamefaqs or buy a codebook. I like to try to beat tough parts without it, but I'm afraid with the hint system on the game, it will be tough to resist for me. I'd rather not have my hints that accessible to force myself to figure it out without help. It's really more of a my own crappy willpower thing than anything else, but seeing as going on gamefaqs is pretty easy and free, I'm going to go ahead and say it's a valid complaint.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
Maybe the ideal situation would be to force you to either enable or disable the feature entirely when creating a new game account, and disallow changing it once your file is underway.
Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense. Wii FC: 8378 9716 1696 8633 || "How can mushrooms give you extra life? Get the green ones." -
@warioswoods: That is what I'm assuming and expecting. If it isn't I will be very annoyed if each level a lil thing pops up saying "are you lame?". I want h-core 3D platforming from the next one as SMG only got hard in brief spells. I buy games to test my skills, not go from a to b etc.
