Topic: Your buying point for the Wii

I bought a Wii towards the end of 2008 (when Wiis were finally being produced more often) because of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii Sports, and Zelda Twilight Princess. Another buying point was the VC, since I always wanted to try out gems like Ocarina of Time, Super Metroid, and Mega Man.

The cheap price was a big reason. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the game that sealed the deal, though.

It was the new console being released by Nintendo. That's all i needed. Got it Day 2 of release, and i actually bought Zelda the day before.

I got the Wii right before Xmas 2008, because my job had just hired me permanently. Unfortunately, I ended up hating said job, so now the Wii and I were separated again. I had played a bunch of these games at a friend's house and loved them (except for TP which I had on GCN). I also wanted the chance to play all the NES/SNES games I missed out on in my childhood. Plus it was still significantly cheaper than Xbox or PS3, and neither of them really had any games I was interested in, except for LBP and Fallout 3 (mainly because of the super accurate map of Washington, DC. All I really wanted to do was shoot some rockets at my office).

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I got mine back in summer of 2007, as a mail order from Wal-Mart. If I could actually find one in stores, I would've gotten one sooner. The primary reason I got one was for the motion controls, which seemed like the coolest thing ever at the time (though admittedly, the novelty wore off quickly). Games like Wii Sports and Twilight Princess mad ethem seem even more promising, even though I didn't play either of them much. The second reason was for the VC. I missed out on a lot of the classics, and the VC served as the perfect way to catch up. Lastly, I bought one becuase it was a Nintendo product, and that's all I really needed.

I got mine in early 2009. :3

Edit: Bleh, I misunderstood the topic. I got it for the Wii games and the Virtual Console, and also so I can be a bit more active when playing video games.

I also got mine late 2008, when I had enough money, finally, and when they were a little easier to find. I'd always wanted one because I've never been disappointed with anything Nintendo's offered.

I got mine mid 07. During the shortages. Luckily, I found mine at Target when they were getting a new shipment.

I bought it in mid 2007 because I was excited for Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess, and also because I had heard whispers of a new Smash Bros. game, Brawl. I also bought it because of its backwards compatibility, so I could play all my GC games on it.

Early in 2007 my wife came home from visiting friends and told me how much fun it was, how she really enjoyed the Wii, and how she wished we had one. Don't have to tell me twice! (Actually, it took a couple months to find one. It wasn't a high enough priority to really care, and we eventually just lucked out by being at the local mall when a shipment arrived.)

Unfortunately, she decided that playing video games with me wasn't much fun about 2 days later. Luckily I've enjoyed the Wii immensely and find it offers more gaming than I have time to take advantage of. Virtual Console was (and is) huge for me, WiiWare has been a pleasant surprise, and of course the retail games are fine if you are a little bit picky about what to choose.

Come to think of it, my wife doesn't like doing anything together with me. Makes me wonder why we're even together sometimes...

I believe it was still 2006 when I got mine. I just so happened to be at a Wal-Mart who was going to get a shipment of Wiis in at midnight, so I waited in line along with a crowd of people until that time and finally got one. I'd already purchased Zelda: TP and some controller gloves beforehand, so I was ready to play as soon as I got it home.

I got it because it's a Nintendo product, and that's all I need to know...

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, would you kindly?

Got mine back in early '07 and I got it since it was Nintendo's next console and Super Mario Galaxy.

I got mine in November of 2007 to get Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Twilight Princess.

Now I'm waiting for SMG 2 and Zelda Wii! =D

Mine was a gift, but if I were to buy a console today, it would be the Wii. The Nintendo franchises are must-haves for me, and the Virtual Console would also be a huge selling point.

Easy question!

Nintendo software - just as everyone else....

Nintendo is made of exclusives. Unlike MS they are not a PC gaming company.
