Its only nature that the Wii will be phased out to a point but not totally gone. You will still have collectors and such holding on to the Wii and Wii games like people do with the NES, SNES, and Genesis for example. And of course theres places like Ebay where even after many years of the product being out of production you will still be able to find it.

The Wii is being phased out as we speak. Some will say that it already has been phased out. The VC is dead, and there won't be any new first-party titles after Xenoblade Chronicles and Last Story.
2012 will probably be a better year than last year for the Wii entirely because more than 2 worthwhile games will be released in America and between older games and 3DS games I don't find it necessary to really get that many new Wii games anyway (whereas last year the only Nintendo system getting worthwhile games was the DS). And this is far less pathetic than the last year of the GCN (CHIBI ROBO AND...uh...Megaman X collection I think?).
Hell there are 2 high quality upcoming Wiiware releases despite the fact that Wiiware has been dead for a year. How weird is that?

For 2012 so far, we're getting Rhythm Heaven Fever and Mario Party 9, both as first party Nintendo-made Wii games, and we just got The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and Kirby's Return to Dreamland late last year. The Wii will be phased out, but don't expect for it to just disappear. The 3DS has been out for almost a year now and the DS has Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 planned for release. Nintendo is good about keeping systems going even after a new system has been launched.

Ummm... sure? I found last year to be better in terms of actual releases. Two RPGs won't be cutting it for me this year. I'm hoping for a stellar launch for Wii U.

Other than those two RPGs and Rhythm Heaven Fever, I honestly don't see too many must haves. Also the VC is totally dead and WiiWare is slowly dying as well.

I think the Wii will be phased out soon. When I went to pick up Mario P9; I was told there would be only seven more games released for the wii. But I think nintendo may keep things going for the games on wii for a while.
Currently playing: Mario Party 9 (Wii) Kid Icarus Uprising, Super Mario 3D Land, Pokemon Rumble Blast, HarvestMoon3D:TaleTwoTowns(3DS) 3DS Friend Code:4038-6561-4182 PSN: traedarkness [SSX(PS3)
It is never a question of "if" or "will" a system will be phased out. Rather, it is a question of "when." My best guess is that they'll use a similar strategy to what they are currently doing with the DS. The releases will start to thin out, but a few major titles will be released for it probably through at least 2013.
The Wii will be phased out, but expect it to be around for a while, albeit with very few new releases. When a console sells 80-odd million it doesn't just die like that. Just ask Sony, who struggled to kill the PS2 for at least 2 years, or look at the DS, which is still in shops despite only seeing a couple of noteworth games since the 3DS launched. So to answer your question: yes, but it won't happen overnight.
I go by Lin1876 everywhere in games, so keep an eye out for me!
Games are being developed for the DS---by Nintendo, so they support it. AND... there is a game coming out for the SNES next year, doesnt mean moe will follow, but still...
And yes, when you break your own record of most home consoles sold, you aren't gonna kill it for a while. And the U Remote will probably cost $100 by itself, some people may want a cheaper system.
