so all these Nintendo "fans" want their Wiis to be like the Xbox360 and the PS3...........just tell me, why should nintendo copy the losers again?
And the only people cryin for the FC (3 years and still with that¿!Gimme a break! ) are the forum dwellers. Normal people don't complain. They just enjoy their games. Why? because it works. .If ain't no broken, don't fix it.
I don't want the wii to play movies or have hard drives or other stuff thar is useless. I want my game console to be that, not a weird hybrid of PC-DVD PLAYER-CONSOLE.
We'll probably get an update that will "make the Wii run smoother and better", meaning that Nintendo will try to block more pirates. It seems that Nintendo can't get over the fact that pirates are inevitable and they should come second to making high-quality games.

Nintendo will NOT make a new interface. I'm sorry, but that will not be happening. In fact, they will NOT change anything. They will keep everything just as it is. They don't support big updates for either firmware or games. The biggest most crazy mind blowing update we got so far in these 4 years is a clock and a SD-card menu.
I would love to have themes, a HDD connected to my Wii, HD-grapichs or heck... even use it as a DVD-payer... but that's not the Nintendo style. Nintendo like to keep it clean and simple. Everything is complete on start up.
If we are lucky, then just maybe... maybe... we get an update which allows us to choose an analogue clock. But I don't want to be toooo optimistic.
@buffalobob actually the wii owners are ultimately the losers, being with few exceptions spoonfed shovelware when ps3/360 owners keep getting AAA title after AAA title. 3rd party developers has all but given up on the Wii, because games just don't sell there. And my guess is that more than half of the owners are those who buy it for wii sports, wii fit and super mario. The game sales outside of first party nintendo titles seem to indicate as much.
The exception being people like on this board who appreciates good games outside of Nintendos little first party bubble, hell this is a Nintendo website after all who'd think otherwise?
Actually, the wii could benefit from alot of things that the PS3/360 has done, especially things like the in-game overlay menus and connectivity with friends, and if you refuse to see it than that's your problem. Just because Nintendo is #1 at the moment, doesn't mean they can't learn from their competitors.

Honestly, I got an update for my iPhone a few weeks ago "fixing the Japanese keyboard" and "increasing performance". Oh, and it broke my jailbreak. Few days later, I re-jailbreak it with redsn0w on the new firmware. As someone with a lot my devices all hacked up (none of which are a Wii), these updates are useless and cause problems.
Nintendo shouldn't let it go, but it's gone to so far to the point that my friend with a legitimate Wii was bricked so Ninty could frustrate pirates for three day. I'm so sick of these "updates" that patch holes.
I don't know if any of you noticed, but the NA Nintendo Channel just got 3DS-related update. The channel now takes up 1 additional block. I'm assuming this is the NA equivalent of Nintendo Channel update EU received lately.
Piracy as always been around and is one the reason ps1 and ps2 were so popular,by law its wrong and unnoffcially it sells consoles.
Does that mean if Piracy is a serious offence the sales will drop really sharply? If that's the case...why would the companies care about Piracy if they are making money on the consoles? (if they really don't care about the game sales output?)

Wheren't those systems sold at a loss, and then on top of that a few even went so far as to avoid paying for games through piracy leeching of Sony and games companies, so I seriously doubt anyone was celebrating the fact that some bought consoles to burn a hole in Sony's pocket and steal from publishers and developers.
UK really needs a new update, haven't had one since about September last year or earlier! And we need a new channel, the last one we recieved was BBC iPlayer in November 2009!
