Topic: Wii Racquet Sports

Was really looking forward to another playable WM+ racquet game after EA Grand slam tennis and to lesser extent wii sports resort table tennis but Nintendo power gave Wii Racquet Sports a 6.5

Never played badminton on a computer game before, shame.

As much as I love Wii Sports Resort, I was always disappointed Tennis was not included.

Me too, also I enjoy table tennis but not as much as I thought (maybe I need more practice) it just seemed the power I put into the shot isn't reflected.

I understand though it's about timing of the hit and aftertouch/bounce.

Strangely, the spin is backwards in wii sports tennis.If I put forespin IRL, it uses backspin in the game, and vice versa. They fixed this with WSR table tennis, it seems.
Oh, and the power of your hit is reflected in-game, at lest for me.

I'd guess that, having just re-released Mario Power Tennis as New Play Control title, they didn't want to be competing against themselves. The same would go with baseball (Super Sluggers) and boxing (Punch-Out.)

Another thing that bugged me with table tennis on wii sports resort is the way it forced me to take shots I wouldn't have to take if I could control the player movement (moving right & left).

I never expected much of Racquet sports thought It would be too much to have playable tennis, table tennis, badminton and squash games. I think they took on too much, but I will wait for some online reviews to get more detailed feedback.

Table tennis + wiiware = match in heaven, someone make a wm+ tabletennis where you can move the player

I forgot about the part that you can't move. That would really be nice if you could choose where you moved, but I think I would need a wireless Nunchuk.

I want Mario and Sonic to do a wiimotionplus racquet sports compilation please. Nintendo may have to "borrow" that franchise though.

Actually its because the dogs ran off with the Tennis balls. (at least according to the game)

Nintendo should have waited and made Mario Power Tennis able to use Wii Motion Plus. Hopefully they will redo Mario Golf, and make it use Wii Motion Plus.

One user voted it 8 on gamespot (racquet sports) have to wait until online reviews come rolling in, it was only out yesterday.

I'm not too hopeful. If a game is any good, you'll generally see a lot of reviews of it before the launch rather than afterwards.

It seems to be the way like those games that are published by the smaller players in the industry like Zoo.

Still looking for reviews of the recent boxing game release "Power punch" it can use 2 WM+ seems like a dream come true, reality will strike and it will be mediocre (at best)

100% agree. I hope they red-do the Mario tennis game as Mario&Sonic Tennis personally. Won't happen though.

I would like a good golf game with WM+ capability but not as hard core as tiger woods. Would Mario Golf kinda fit that mold do you think?

well it doesn't mean it's a bad game. maybe that's just the score that will be given to this kind of game today. if it didn't add more visually/control better than wii sport resort table tennis then that's the score it got... could be fun.

this is excellent news actually. if by this time, some games by 3rd parties still can't get motion controls right, there's no way they'll get it right on the move either for many years ahead, lol.
