I've been fooling around with WSR this weekend, and I haven't noticed the recognition "drifting" in any of the games. Am I getting lucky, or is it usually so minimal that it's hard to notice?
@ChickenBrutus lol i jsut read your signature! i need reminding about what happens when you piss of chickens in legend of Zelda because i think i slaughtered them all when that happened

God loves you
@Chicken: It does work when you're playing casually. When things get intense, it starts drifting a LOT, especially in swordplay in ping pong.
Ahhh, okay. Again, forgive me if I'm being dumb, but it's just something that tends to lose its orientation over time? Because I'll admit I usually play WSR for a bit then put it down and come back to it later. If I played in a marathon session, I'd probably be noticing the same thing.
As it stands, I won't be playing any marathon sessions...a few minutes of sword fighting take a lot out of me!
Yeah, quick, frequent swinging tends to disorient it. I like spending a lot of time upping my level to pro and stuff, which is why I've noticed it, AND what prompted my concern for more serious future games, like Zelda.
I have also noticed drifting, particularly in table tennis. But for me it hasn't been very frequent or drastic enough to discourage me from playing. Hopefully it will be improved as more time is spent working with motion plus.

Apologies pixeldude, for butting in before when I should have been concentrating on golf. Playing online and surfing at the same time isn't a good idea (as you do neither well). I do hear your worries, I've yet to experience it myself (as I haven't gone h-core on sword fighting, yet) but my brother complained it wasn't registering stuff, and then my sister-in-law's wii-mote just plain switched off because she was getting carried away. If, in the middle of a fight with that pesky Ganondorf, my wii-mote went funky, I would question everything 'Nintendo'. They'll fix it? Won't they? They have to!
Re-calibrating mid fight, would just ruin it. And what do you guys mean exactly by 'drifting'?
I have had numerous M+ problems with Resort. I still enjoy the heck out of the game, but I have serious doubts as to its implementation in adventure games. For Zelda to work with it, I think the M+ would have to be used sparingly, or the game would have to be more level-based and playable in short bursts, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
I dont understand these guys willing Nintendo to crush the competitors, remember that both Sony and Microsoft are creating hardware and software for all of us, there is no law forbiding Nintendo users to buy these systems too. Having the market monopolized by a single company is the very worst that might happen to the gamming world.
I just think that it's inevitable that this happens ,I mean it's still a delicate piece of electronic equipment , it isn't a sword or a canoe paddle and as such will need to be calibrated from time to time especially if you go a bit 'wild' with it!! (I tend to use gentle flicks while sat down and find that this keeps the remote from losing it's position to much). At the end of the day if you wanted a controller to truly recognise where you are in 3D space then your wiimote would cost you a lot more than it does now.
