We all know the Wii, being multi-user designed has an internal message board. Everyday it posts a message known simply as Today. This mighty little message clocks up what you've done on your Wii that day and shows you in hours and minutes how little or too much you're addicted to certain games. Does anyone here, actually look at it? If so what do you make of the information regarding your playing habits?

I look at it when im bored, and take the results with a pinch of salt as I usually keep games running for 23:59 hours.

Does that work? I mean, for example I played Metroid Prime Trilogy for 1 hour 38 minutes the other night at 11 o clock. Obviously at midnight the date rolled over in the Wii's teeny tiny internal clock. When I stopped playing at 00:39 in the morning the message board said I'd played Metroid Prime Trilogy for an hour longer than the day was young (if you get me). In theory you could keep a game running - let Smash Bros. play itself as it's nice background viewing - for 24 hours and 1 minute... regardless of the date it might stamp the Today screen of the current dau with the duration of 24:01. I'd test it but I'm lazy.

No, it keeps it at 23:59, even if youve been playing for 50 hours.

It doesnt bother me. But on the Nintendo Channel it gives you all hours of gameplay, hence the reason why Mario Kart is in the thousands.

Thats understandable... my Mario Kart playtime is usually only about 20 mins to an hour every other day but that's the thing it's every other day, most games would kill for me to keep going back and playing them on a regular basis.

I can play Mario Kart for ages though. I just do all 32 courses and its fun getting into the 1000's when on teams. Some games however, like Brawl and Zelda just start to get unbearable. I hope they put in a Boss Run for Zelda Wii, and thats the best bit in the game.

According to my 3 years worth of playtime... Brawl is my most played game (by a long way) but it's only in massive bursts - it'll get played for hours and hours daily for about 2 weeks then not touched for 6 months and another massive burst.

Thats like me and animal crossing, without the massive burst 6 months later

Thats partially why I like the Today messages.. it's not their accuracy or lack of, but it shows what I do and when... I know for a fact that Okami has been criminally underplayed by myself (44 minutes since relaese day ) but without the reminder when I check my Today messages I'd probably never play it, not becuase I dont like it just lack of time or thought.

I'd completely forgotten about the Nintendo Channel mind... I've gone to huge amounts of effort to catalogue my playing with spreadsheets and graphs. I could've just looked it all up on the Nintendo Channel.

I'm using it now to cut down on how much I play on the Wii. I've decided 3-5 hours a day is frankly way too much when there's other things I'd be much better off doing. Like stopping thinking about learning how to code and actually learning how to code. But yeah, rationed myself to an hour a day, and that counter comes in handy. My games last a lot longer that way too <3
