When I first heard about the wii I thought to myself "this would be great for FPS" but it's been a couple of years and where are the FPS on the Wii? The wiimote is a great match for FPS but nobody makes them, So what gives?
Medal of Honor Vanguard, MoH Heroes 2, Call of Duty 3 & WaW, Metroid Prime Trilogy, The Conduit, Red Steel, Far Cry Vengeance, Water Warfare, OnSlaught, and Brothers in Arms.
red steel is also not bad. it's not great. and it certainly didn't live up to hype. but it's not bad. and the new one will be great! so will the grinder. and depending on how broad your definition of an fps is, house of the deas 1 and 2, and house of the dead overkill are great, as is resident evil: umbrella chronicles, and as will be its sequel resident evil: darkside chronicles.

@Art- Part of the reason could be that the people that would do so, want to on a more powerful system. To me, the wii is made for FPS. Maybe some think of wii as not a serious gaming console. It could also be that they don't believe that there is enough people that are into FPS that own a wii. Maybe some think that people won't take their game as seriously if it is on the Wii. Maybe it's that third party developer thing and they think their game will not be a success on this system (I'm sure some of you have heard of the complaint that Nintendo is having great success with the wii, but 3rd partys, not so much.)
although Links Crossbow Training has a lot of variety in it and potentionaly some good building blocks for FPS with the free roaming sections. It certaininly isnt a lightgun game in the style of wild west guns and house of the dead.
But I diagress, Onsluaght is a fantastic FPS which fits very well into wiiwares 40mb cap, had they followed this up with a full retail release im sure it would be up to the standards of great FPS's.

All those are decent at best. Why does the wii not get any GOOD fps games? The PS3 and 360 get a Great FPS almost every month.
Because while Wii has a larger installed base, PS360 and PC are perceived as having the lion's share of the FPS fanbase, so efforts towards making FPS games usually end up being developed for computers and the consoles with comparable power so it can be relatively easily ported between those three. This is my guess, at least.

Decent? Metroid Prime Trilogy is decent? What planet do you live on and by the way welcome to Earth Medal of Honor Heroes 2 has 32p online multiplayer. CoD WaW is fun and so is The Conduit and they`re not average.
MP games are often not considered FPS games by people because of a heavy emphasis on adventure/exploration and because it doesn't conform to the conventions of the genre. WaW is watered down and The Conduit is the very definition of average.
Saying there is no fps' on the Wii is just silly, but then saying there's a lot of good ones is too. As a huge PC-fps fan I was excited by the possibilities of Wii, especially having enjoyed many fps titles on the 64 and GC (Turok 1&2, Quake 1&2, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Prime, XIII, TimeSplitters 2, Geist, Die Hard: Vendetta and more). The 64 and GC were comparable in power to rival consoles though so multi-format MEANT multi-format. Nowadays the Wii gets ignored in favour of more powerful consoles with crappy analogue control, but if you ask me, IR support makes the Wii a no-brainier for decent (not ported) fps', and I am disappointed the market hasn't been flooded with them as that is what I was both hoping for, and expecting.
It's been a big fail from the all parties if you don't include MoH:H2 and MPT, which is a huge shame. I love my Wii, but the PC is where I do my strafin'. I hope that changes at some point.

((GC was inarguably superior to PS2. RE4 graphics had to be gimped for the port.))
Everything else you said I agree with. There should also be more PointnClick Adventure and Strategy games on Wii. Shame that everyone goes batty for the waggle and completely ignores the IR.
@clicketyclick: Yeah I originally typed 'were more powerful', but then remembered the Xbox outdid the GC, just. I'm still so annoyed by how good alot of GC games look compared to Wii, I just don't get it.
SMG and Prim3 showed what the Wii is REALLY capable of. I can't wait for Zelda's visuals to wow the world and put all those developers to shame. The Wii's success has been it's own worst enemy really, in terms of dev's rushing things to the shelves instead taking the time to craft something.
