Topic: Why did you choose Wii over PS3/360?

um its nintendo and i like nintendo games. also the virtual console was the only cheap way to play those n64 and snes games i never got to play as a child, having sold all my old systems.

I would have chosen a PS3 over the Wii if it weren't for the original price tag. I purchased a Wii instead and just recently got a PS3 with 2 games included for only $299. I had a GameCube as well and I kept all my GCN games so that was a deciding factor. The Virtual Console is nice, although lacking considering all the top-tier classics that take forever to come out for it (if they ever come out at all... Earthbound...). WiiWare is a nice surprise with a few good games but I would still choose the PSN over it since it has better support. The funny thing is that I have almost the same number of PS3 games (15) that I do Wii games (20) and I only have had the PS3 since Black Friday, lol. I enjoy the Wii but lately (last 4 months or so) it has been collecting dust due to my PC and the PS3.

The virtual console was the main reason for me. Super Mario Kart & Super Smash Bros Brawl had also just come out.

Some of us don't have to pretend. I remember spending countless hours playing Altered Beast and Golden Axe on the Genesis with my friends back in our high school days.

It was around 3rd/4th grade for me. Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon Red, all day long...ahh, the days of my youth...err, earlier...youth.

@Feenie: Same here, I was in 6th when I picked up Blue. Never did get into SSB, maybe cause I wasn't allowed to go to other's houses and noone was allowed over mine.

BUT, the use of captioned pictures to make a point in interent forums is very backward and old hat TOO (coming from someone who's been writing in internet forums for 9 years or so - great forums on this site btw; v.welll run and moderated)

@ Phoenix & grenworthshero: And I already played GB and NES games around 1990, at the age of five, before first grade . One thing sucked though: at school, we were considered by the "cool kids" to be to old to play games like Pokemon Red ...

I'm more into quirky, niche games, and I'm not big into FPS and sports games (although I do enjoy them occassionally).
I've never owned anything other than a Nintendo system (until this year when my friend gave me his old PS2 for free--a nice little system, I must say. Shadow of the Colossus is now one of my all time favorite games) so I obviously love Nintendo's first party stuff...honestly when the PS3 and 360 first launch there weren't any games that interested me on those systems. But now the PS3 has a seriously good library, and the 360's isn't bad either. With the recent price drop I'll probably get a PS3 soon.

I'm perfectly happy with my Wii--probably the most satisfactory gaming console I've ever bought.

I didn't get a 360 because of red ring of death. Xbox live and a couple of the games sounded like a systems for me, but I don't like getting systems that have major design flows.

I own a Ps 1 and a Ps 2. The reason I didn't get a Ps 3 was the price. I am also not big on fPS. I really haven't been big on sports games as a whole in years.

I got the Wii due to it's price, vc and I felt the controllers could give me a unique experience to play some types games.

Didn't anyone tell you to respect your elders ... or at least to not make them feel any older than they already are?

PS: Youth is so wasted on the young.

Well I am not interested in ANY Game that was released on PS360... but that is my opinion
Why should I buy a product of a company that I disagree in??? I played both consoles. I don't like the PS3 joypad because it gives me cramps. The 360 has the red ring of death... enough reasons for me not to buy these systems!!!

really? you must have retarded hands because those are some really comfortable controllers. no controller should give anyone a cramp. you just have really weak hands.

It is this akward angle of the wings... It was the same with the PS1 and PS2 joypad. They aren't as bad as the original Xbox Controller... that one was really awful. Gave me a cramp in less than 5 mins... The PS joypad takes 30 mins to give me a cramp.

The best Controller ever was the DC joypad. Really really comfy in your hands. The wavebird was comfy to the hands to but the button layout is not so good...

before my wii i had a gamecube, so the possibilities to play the gamecube games make it more attractive, also, metroid prime 3 was on its way so i had to play it and there were other games that convinced me

I was always a Nintendo person, and Virtual Console made it a must-have. I've never regretted it since.
