Everyone is talking about Mario, Zelda and Metroid again. But this is a little strange for me as these series have already had at least one game on the Wii so far. So why are thy all coming back again before we've had Wii entries into the other series like: Starfox, F-Zero, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Earthbound and Pikmin. Is it because games like Warioland undersold? But surely Starfox is a big enough name.

I can understand that Nintendo might have given up on these games because they're focussing more on their key brands and widening their casual market. But surely with the success of the Wii they have the resources to work on their more traditional games as well, don't you think?

Agree, since after all Wii is now the best selling Nintendo Home Console ever and Wii VC basicly revived old franchise from both established Nintendo platforms and Non-Nintendo Platforms from the Past so it would make sence to see New Games from Old Franchises.

Since Nintendos development studios are pretty large, but not infinite, I suppose they focus on what will sell. Mario, Zelda, Metroid and the "Wii..." series have proved to sell. I do think we´ll get another Starfox or F-Zero, but like previous homeconsole releases they may hire a thirdparty to develop the game.

I´d love to see a new Kid Icarus, but the biggest chance there is a WiiWare/ DSiWare release. It´s been ages since Pit´s glorydays, so nostalgics like me are the main target. Oh yeah, he was included in SSBB... but since then he´s vanished into obscurity again.

Ice Climber never got a sequel anyway, and I honestly don´t know if a new game is a good idea. The original has some charm, but it´s not very good compared to the other titles you mentioned.

Forgotten heroes are welcome back, but really, a brand new hero would be even better.

I hope you are right. I will try not to lose faith. I'm going to bed now and dream of Starfox Wii, can you imagine a game like the N64 version with nunchuck, wii pointer controls and online multiplayer? I can't believe they haven't done it yet!

You're right dude. I guess I really am most bummed out F-Zero and Starfox. I hope you're right and they do finally make them.

I made a sort of delicious breakfast cereal out of them, similar to Lucky Charms. Then, because I love Lucky Charms, I ate them all.

I did, unfortunately, receive some 'FALCON INDIGESTION!!!', but that passed rather quickly.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

When's that game even coming out? I've not seen any hype for it at all, which is worrying. Anyway I want the characters from Starfox; Peppy and Slippy and Falco and Fox McCloud of course, even Wolf. I miss those guys.

Well, why are you ignoring "Nintendo's forgotten heroes" which already are on the Wii? We have Fire Emblem, Batallion Wars, Punch-Out, Excite Truck, Excitebots, Paper Mario, Another Code, Wario Land, WarioWare and Sin & Punishment. How can you make that claim? Do these games not count? If Nintendo was only concerned about the games which sell bajillion copies, how the heck did these ones get released? Especially something like Sin & Punishment 2, when the first game never even left Japan until the VC came along.

Sure, I'd like to see Star Fox, Kirby, Pikmin, F-Zero and others on the Wii as well, but maybe Nintendo isn't too interested in them right now...? They are not obligated to develop what you or me want, you know. Any creator should make only what they feel like making at the time. Or maybe they're still trying to figure out how to translate a series like F-Zero to the Wii. That's the reason why Metroid never came out during the N64 days; Nintendo was having trouble making it take the jump to 3d. Who knows, maybe they want to re-imagine these series for the Wii and still haven't figured out how.

About stuff like Ice Climber or Kid Icarus, you'd probably be better off just letting it go. I'd like to see Ice Climber get a Wiiware treatment like Excitebike, but I'm not getting angry at Nintendo or anything if they never do it. It's just a neat idea.
Kid Icarus is mostly likely dead, as a series. I wouldn't hold my breath about it.

You didn't even mention the series which, in my opinion, has the most potential to be something truly special on the Wii: Pilotwings. Now, that I'd like to see.

Well, while I would like to see more games with forgotten heroes, we all have to keep in mind that production costs are rising and Nintendo has a hard time keeping up with it's fanbase as it is. As far as I can tell, Nintendo is only focused on their absolutely most popular franchises right now. And let's not forget that out of Zelda and Metroid, we have not seen any new Wii titles from them in the past few years, Link's Crossbow Training and Metroid Prime Trilogy exempted, for obvious reasons. All we can do at the time is bank on our last hope: the DS. The DS has substantially low production costs compared to Wii and has a larger fanbase as well. I truly hope that if we see anymore from these heroes that have fallen from grace, they will at least make it on the DS.

I was wanting one like DK64. I really enjoyed that game but never could beat it. But I think it's not going to come because of the lack of sales and bad reviews of DK Barrel Blast. I hope for a new Kirby game like Kirby's Adventure or a good unique twist like Kirby: Canvas Curse. Although the only StarFox game I've played is Star Fox Command I wouldn't mind having a new starfox game with a Jet Force Gemini-like multiplayer. And yes Pikmin 3 is going to be made.
