It's out, on disc instead of wiiware.

Anyone know why, or got an article explaining why they switched from WiiWare to retail disc release?

I will be playing the game soon. Happy to see it finally came out, more than a year after the initially promoted release dates.

Budget issues I believe?

Oh, and don't be too happy just yet. I've heard it's a real disappointment. Hopefully your experience will be different, though.

Ah. Budget issues, does it mean they spent so much money on development, that now they need to sell for $29 instead slightly lower WiiWare price range? Wonder if they can sell more copies on disc. I think disc-making and distribution costs would be higher then. Hopefully it will pay off for them, if they have made a good game.

Where is a review? I haven't seen review on Nin Life yet.

Quote from Team17 on why they switched:

  • "With regards to Worms: Battle Islands for Wii, a title we announced some time back, it became increasingly clear that by switching the game from WiiWare to a boxed retail Wii title, we would be able to make the game available to as many Worms fans on the platform as possible. We are pleased that through the THQ Partners program, we will have a strong retail presence for Worms: Battle Islands on Wii coming into the important holiday season."

The only 2 reviews so far (which were both only released today) gave it a 7/10 and a 70/100. How is that a real disappointment?

Instead of reviving WiiWare Forum threads for a game that's no longer on WiiWare, try going to the Worms post in the Wii Forum.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I wasn't referring to those reviews. Don't be so quick to assume.

The Wii retail games (as it now is sadly) recieved a bad revw in the last n-gamer issue

"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."

Post in the Wii forum thread! Can somebody please close this one?

I would have downloaded this day one if it had been WiiWare. A fun little Worms game I could play here and there without worrying about a disc would be very appealing, and the size limit would have restricted game to the series' core roots. Going down the retail option, however, means I'll never buy it. Not because it's a bad game, no doubt it's improved because more can be done on disc, but the fun has kind of been taken out of it. It's just another Worms retail game, and Space Oddity hardly did well.

Worms was so perfect for WiiWare as well...

It's on like Donkey Kong! (trademark of Nintendo)
