As far as VC games go you can transfer them from the hard drive to an SD card but thats just so you arent taking up space on the HD. You can only access the game from the SD card on the Wii that you bought the game on originally. In other words you cant DL a VC game and than put it on a SD card and than play it on another Wii.

I see. So when the next Wii comes out, do you think we can transfer the games to the new Wii as long as it's registered under the same person?

Who knows maybe they will have something like the transfer cable that Microsoft just came out with to transfer stuff between the old Xbox 360 and the new Xbox 360 Slim. I sure hope so cause I have a bunch of VC games that I'd hate to lose. The only way I have heard of someone transfering stuff between Wiis is if you Wii brakes and you get a new one you can send both of them to Nintendo and they will transfer the stuff from the broken one to the new one. Of course I am sure that shipping will cost alot so it just might be cheaper to rebuy the VC games on your new Wii especially if you dont have alot of games.

^ Speaking of Sega games...

You should give Grey Lancer (really awesome shooter, like Zero Wing but more fun) a try, also Crusader of Centy (Zelda-ish overhead RPG and you use animals as weapon modifiers and upgrades). Pulseman is also pretty cool, but I'd been playing that through the "other means" quite a while before it wound up on the VC. If they can add that and Sin and Punishment when they were originally Japan only then there's no reason they shouldn't add SD3. I mean if they can get Square to allow them to put Secret of Mana on the VC and put a retooled Chrono Trigger on the DS then what the hell is stopping them...

Seiken Densetsu 3 is impossible to play without having it in a language you can understand. If they ever rerelease it, it'll have to be a remake. I don't know whats stopping them from doing that, though.

And Gley Lancer is freakin' awesome. Once you get a handle of those drone things, you'll be in for one hell of a ride. And a very long one, too. Jesus, 12 stages?! Really?! Thank G-d it has infinite continues. I just started Crusader of Centy not to long ago, but its reminding me why I never play these sort of games without a controller. I've honestly hurt myself more than the enemies. That $35 cartridge is looking more and more tempting by the minute...I'd rather it came out on VC, though. Seriously, what the hell is taking them so long?! I mean yes, the developer only made 2 games, but they were very, very good and criminally overlooked games. They deserve a second chance, man!

Really to me the answer is simple. If it's a game or two and it's meant for 'ease' or because it's far cheaper than buying another system plus the cart and it's just not worth dropping that kind of coin then yes it's worth it. But, if you have the system already and really do love the game it's best to play it on real hardware.

I usually get both VC and originals for games I really love (ex. All 6 NES Mega Man games). I'll usually get the VC version if I don't own the game or don't want the cartridge. There's just something about playing games on their original system that's really cool, but the VC has its benifits, too.

Beep.
That is all.

Depends which game. If it was something rare/wanted (Earthbound!), then, yeah, I'd want the cart. If it was something that was commonplace or in abundance (Super Mario Bros.), then I'd much rather have the convenience and reliability of a VC download.

I'd personally rather have the original carts.

But the Virtual Console is less time consuming, cheap, more reliable and so much more convenient, though. So, I usually stick with the Console.

Virtual Console, considering that I don't have the original System (my oldest is the Gamecube) and would rather not hunt down eBay for carts. Besides, it's much more convenient to have all my "Classic" games on the system, so I can just select which one I want to play. Sure, I'll still have to get up to get my Classic Controller Pro, (Which I got because playing Super Mario World with a Gamecube controller is heck) but it beats having to go through a row of carts that don't have any labeling on the side, (I store my games on a shelf) or be tethered to the console, as the wire would never reach my couch, as it's a big room. Oh, and yeah, Suspend Play is nice, too, although I hardly use it because some games have save files, and when I load up a game that has them it's hard to tell whose save is who's sometimes, as my siblings like to play my VC games too.

i have most of my games on the both original systems and VC, but after seeing the wii's visual improvements i _never_ play the originals. i feel like i've said it a dozen times before, but component is about as good as it gets when it comes to visual quality and with 480p thrown in you can see your old games looking as good as they possibly can. the improvement is very worthwhile and if you're familiar with an old game you should see it right away.

then there's the n64 emulator that renders polygons at twice the original resolutions, like xd375 mentioned. there's no way to miss that improvement... as much as i love my hologram majora's mask cart, i can't ever play it again. the VC version is so clear that at times it could pass for a (very faithful) gamecube remake.

Love my Megadrive, prefer the carts. Only killer is the joypad cable length >

Originals obv, but for practicality and convenience, VC wins. Well, assuming all the games were on there. >_>

Nothing beats 'the real thing'

The major downside of flash-memory is that it wears out, even though the Wii's NAND is quite durable.

Games without license issues + LucasArts = VC

Games with them(Disney/Marvel/Warner Bros) = Carts...

Carts are more durable but those with battery saves are destined to die out.

True. But, although they are soldered, batteries cán be replaced.

I definitely prefer playing games on Virtual Console or XBLA nowadays. Better picture signal and saving options are my main reasons. But I would like to have the original carts for collecting/nostalgic reasons.

VC, just for the sheer convenience. I still have all my old carts though, but they're neatly tucked away in storage. I can't bring myself to get rid of them.

I own a SNES and dont have the Classic Controller, so I obviously buy the orginal carts

Without having a NES anymore (cry) or missing systems like Genesis or N64, the rest goes for the VC. It is mostly cheaper alswell and some of them realy get more playability these days with the freeze function.

I found getting the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection (50 games) on PS3 was a good plan to avoid buying a Genesis or a bunch of VC titles.
