When I downloaded the Internet Channel I kissed goodbye my 500 points. For some reason getting a NES game in return out of the blue is more exciting to me than just buying one myself.
Wait, so you people willingly paid $5 for the Internet Channel. Now Nintendo wants to give you a $5 NES game, and you are unsatisfied with that? What if they just didn't offer anything? Hell I'm still annoyed that I bought StarTropics but I'm not gonna demand my 500 points back. And if the price of the game goes down to 300 points or even free I really don't require a refund. You agreed to pay what you paid at the time that you paid it so Nintendo doesn't actually owe you anything.
This is very true. All you who are complaining...why? now you get two things for your 500 wii points.
What free NES game will you get? Your title is wrong ... there is no free Nes game ..... you already paid for it !!!!
No. You paid for a channel with the understanding at the time that you would not get your points back at a later date. This is essentially a free game.
No , i was forced to pay for a channel that had been free and it should always have been free and now is free again !
Boycott it , i want my points , not a useless Nes game !!!!!!!
What's wrong with you? I think this is a good offer. As for what NES game I'm going to choose, I do not know yet. I have a TON of NES games in mine collection. But, I'm considering possibly choosing either StarTropics or River City Ransom.
How is it a good offer? They rip you off by 500 points for something that should have been free (because it sucks!!) and then they tell you what you have to buy with your refund.Would you take that treatment in a real life shop?
No, I would hate that. But, this would never happen in a real shop. But, I actually am happy about being able to choose a free NES game, but i wonder why Master System and C64 games are excluded. I don't see why Nintendo could not just give 500 points for free. I still do not see why people are upset about this. It is just 500 points, and you guys are talking about lawsuits? I thought everybody would be happy that we can finally purchase a FREE VC game. I'm certainly am.

HA! This would never happen in a shop. If a store was selling something for $5, and then, all of the sudden decided to give it away as a free offer, they would NEVER refund the $5 to those who bought it before it was free. Get a grip.
The reason why these are excluded is basically because they want to keep things "in-house". Really, everything has a catch -- this just happens to be the catch to be able to get the free gift.

This is not a free game but I'm glad that I will at least be getting something back when I expected nothing from Nintendo. The Internet Channel should have always been free and I considered my 500 points long gone so it is a nice surprise to have some form of reimbursement. I will be using this opportunity to get StarTropics II.
I will be using this opportunity to choose a NES game. I can't believe people are complaining. I wouldn't be surprised if this topic turn into another flame wars.
If you have purchased 200 $6.19 footlong subs from Subway before they started their $5 footlong deal (on qualifying subs), Subway would never give you a $238 refund, nor would they give you $238 in free subs. If you buy a pair of jeans for $30 and they go on clearance 6 months later for $4, you do not get a $26 refund. Nintendo is doing more than they have to (which is nothing) here.
Probably Metroid But if they actually were to give us 500 points back instead of an NES game, I would love to get Phantasy Star! Also as for me not already having bought the original, It's the only one other than II that I don't have!
