I really would like to get Kid Icarus, but since I know I won't ever have the time to finish, I'll probably get River City Ramson, since I have great memories of that game and well, it's "free" after all!
SMB3 for me aswell, the reason I havn't downloaded it yet is because (a few people may grumble about this) I have always like the SNES SMB:Allstars version of SMB3, I have given up hope of seeing them come to VC though so I will settle for the NES version.
I think that either zelda, punch out or maybe a very old classic like the classic Mario Bros...although star tropics looks interesting too. Maybe they may release more games this month? I hope so.
Been very tempted to buy Moto Roader i have heard lots of people said its fun riding a motorcycle shooting your enemies i wonder when we can use it or is it available now for us to get the Free NES game?
I love Star Tropics, and I'm so glad that many people are able to discover it at this late stage. I think it's aged extremely well (apart from the fact that you move on a grid...but that's pretty much factored into the puzzle design so it arguably justifies itself) and it's one of the richer NES experiences.
Obviously get whatever game appeals to you most...I just have a difficult time not singing ST's praises whenever the opportunity arises.
I wouild rate the 2-d Marios as such : 1. SM3 2. Super Mario 2 American 3. Super Mario World.
while i agree with SMB3 at the top of the list, are you really rating SMB2(US) higher than SMW? I can't stand it myself... I hope they remake it, because it did have great potential, but the 1up-slot-machine thing is too fickle (for me, anyway) and thus I always blow through my continues whenever I try to play it through without warping. The only playable version of SMB2(US) is the one included with Super Mario All-Stars, where you pretty much have infinite continues thanks to the saving option.
I continue to want to see a NSMB2, though. Picking things up and throwing them were fun, and I can totally see instead of two extra no-name toads, them having the princess and our favorite lovable Toad as playable characters. and Bowser taking a vacation and letting the normal SMB2 villains have at us would be quite the refreshing break. :3
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

I awoke today to find my Wii glowing. Ah, what a beautiful sight...anyway, I'll probably get Kid Icarus or Kirby's Dreamland, but I'll have to look into it more. I never had a NES until recently, so I don't know what's good on the system. I'll have to see what people are getting on this thread.

There was a redone version of the SMAS version of SMB2 at the GBA launch in the form of Super Mario Advance. Have you tried that one. I heard there are differences to make it more accessible than the NES and SNES versions.
My brother got the internet channel, so it's his choice. I hope he makes a good one, but then again he thinks almost all of what I think looks cool is stupid, so that's probably not a good sign...
I said Zelda II before but settled on Castlevania III simply because I haven't played it before. I already own Zelda II on the Collectors disc but I don't really play it that much.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Can't decide between StarTropics and Castlevania III -- the latter was one of my favorite games growing up, and therefore deserves a place on my Wii menu, but I've played it a million times through already. The former would be entirely new to me.

If it helps, WW, StarTropics was one of my favorite NES games as a teen (I discovered it very late), and a Virtual Console download revealed to me that it's aged quite well. (That is to say that I still like everything I liked about it when I was younger, and no [additional] flaws have been revealed to me.) I still love it, and it's one of the few I feel comfortable recommending in general without caveat.
I'm sure I played Castlevania III, but I was never a devout fan of the series and so have trouble remembering which game was which. (I'm a terrible man, I know.)
Alright, I'll get StarTropics then; but you'd best educate yourself regarding Castlevania! The third game was the greatest on the NES by far, and tied for the greatest in the series in my mind (along with SOTN and Rondo of Blood). Its music is remarkable, some of the best arranged and composed video game music of all time.
(Off-topic, but I also did end up finally picking up HL2 during that sale, so that I can properly play through the whole thing myself for the first time, and I'm greatly enjoying it. It may make it hard for me to go back and finally finish HL1:Source, though, because now every time I boot up Steam, HL2 is calling my name.)

Maybe I'll grab CVIII as well, then. (I went with Adventures of Lolo 2 for my freebie.) I was sort of waiting for CVRebirth to see how that turned out, but we'll see. Hopefully that'll come next week, and the decision can be made more easily.
I decided to pick up HL1Source during that sale after all, WW. And then I went off and did other things and before I knew it the weekend was over and I forgot to buy it after all. Go me!
