I might be a little late to the party here, but it seems like games that are (or may become) Nintendo Selects are first-party Nintendo games that Nintendo has stopped manufacturing/aren't still selling millions of copies a year. If that's the case, it'd only be logical for games like WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Super Paper Mario, Punch-Out!!, Mario Strikers Charged (in NA) and Endless Ocean to become Nintendo Selects over games like SSBB and MKWii.
Also, another reason could be that Nintendo was using those games they re-released to test the waters to see if the program would be profitable, so there may be more "waves" of games to come; we just don't know.
Yeah, Punch-Out! really needed a price adjustment. I've heard from several sources that it didn't contain the amount of content that was expected. Anyone know how good Animal Crossing: City Folk was?

I just bought Punch-Out for 28.99 on Amazon... (shipping included) it came fast though. It contains a lot to do, just not what some people call "content". For a Punch-Out game there's a lot.
I bought Punch-out wii at full price near the time it came out and it was totally worth it, its a fantastic game and it has a lot to do. Career mode has 13 opponents to fight twice; once in contender and a harder version of each fight in title defence and then theres the last stand section of career mode which has a secret cameo opponent and then there are three challenges for all the contender fights, all the title defence fights as well as the secret opponent while it doesn't start of that hard it gets really hard later on, so it will last a while
I got Punch Out!!! About a month after it was released from an Amazon sale. I have to say if it does drop to $20 that would be totally worth it. Heck even the $40 price tag was worth it if you are a Punch Out Fan like me. As for not having alot of content I dont know where you guys got that info from I thought it had a good amount, but thats my opinion.

it`s not temporary. they added four new games for the US,Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Punch Out, Mario Strikers Charged (i think lol) on Aug 28th....then in Europe it`s Twilight Princess and Galaxy that are coming out.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
The games you listed are too new, Nintendo Selects will not be any games that are not after 2008, so all the Wii Selects are from 2006-2008 not 2009-2011.
Why not Mario Kart Wii? Smash Bros. Brawl? Metroid Prime 3? Nintendo could have even re-released Metroid Prime Trilogy as a Selects title. Plenty of games could have been included in the Selects lineup. Instead we got Mario Sluggers and Animal Crossing. WTF?
Have you forgotten that Some of the Wii's Audience are Casual Gamers (and some Hardcore) who enjoy Animal Crossing and Mario Super Sluggers? Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean other's don't. And look how well thise 2 games sold compared to Other M.
