Okay, with No More Heroes 2 coming out in North America on Jan. 26, and in Europe sometime in February or March, I thought it would be nice to post a thread (unofficial, of course) about the users' hype for the game, and, when it's released, their thoughts about it. Here's how this thread will go: 1. Explain whether you played the original and what you thought of it. 2. Describe how hyped you are for the sequel and, once it's released, what you think of it.
I've played the original, and I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed the combat, the controls, the bosses, the visuals, and how hilariously over-the-top the dialogue and violence were. What I absolutely hated about the game was the horrible, horrible GTA portion of the game. There were so many things wrong with it, it wasn't even funny. The pedestrians were slippery and non-hittable, cars wouldn't collide when you tried to hit them, the frame rate went from buttery smooth to choppy, and, most importantly, the non-assassination mini-games were boring and dumb. Thankfully the good far out-weighed the bad.
About the sequel, I am pumped. Visually, from what I saw, it looks amazing, even better-looking than the original. The combat looks even more fun and over-the-top. The humor looks to be just as good as the original. Finally, the ability to play two other characters in the game sounds awesome.
1. I played through most of the game, but for some reason got distracted and never got back to it. If I finish what I'm playing now though, I'll try to beat No More Heroes before the sequel is released.
1. I LOVE No More Heroes and, funny enough, it's the only game that 100% fit on the Wii for me. When I play NMH, the Wiimote and Nunchuck feel cool and natural. No other Wii game does that. 2.I can't wait!

1 Only played through the original once, but it's my favourite 3rd party Wii effort (along with Okami). I will rectify this once we get a release date on NMH2 in Europe and beat the game again. Awesome character designs, amazing boss battles and a totally badass attitude. I also didn't mind the overworld (thought of it as HUB) nor minded the jobs (you only do them once!).
The sequel sets to improve on everything, so I'm absolutely stoked... to the point where I've e-mailed Rising Star and begging for a PAL release date soon. Come on, RS!
I ignored the original release, just looked like a gorefest with "teenage" humour in it, but so many people raved about it for so long I bought it on impulse at a GAME when it was on sale for £8. Man I felt like a fool, the game is brilliant! I love the satire, I love the tedious mini-games and the overworld -- it just seems like a big piss-take on GTA and the current gen of "core" gamers. Imagining fans of those games playing this and hating it just filled me with joy.
I was hoping the sequel would stay true to that, but the idea of having retro-style minigames instead is fantastic, so I'm really jazzed for the sequel. I'll hopefully get in another playthrough on the harder difficulty (I played the easy one -- "Sweet" I think it's called?) before tucking into the new one. Definitely one of my most-anticipated games of the year.
I'm playing the original now and so far it is a very good game even though it has some problems.
And my version is one of those which do not have any blood so I don't like that much. I'm not saying that I love blood but it would be nice if there would be some blood instead of some black...whatever it is.
Considering you can play VC games with a game cube controller, there's not going to be a rumble feature. This game's too fluffy; it woulda been nice to have a 3d yoshi game
Just pretend their robots squirting oil everywhere or something.

That also put me off buying it, but then I said "what the hell" and to be honest I really like the aesthetics and think it works nicely with the cell-shaded look of the game. I'm almost disappointed we're getting blood in the sequel over here.
It's safe to say that No More Heroes is my most played 3rd party title on the Nintendo Wii. I've clocked in over 50 hours on that game. I love how it was aimed at mature audience. The bosses of the game were very well thought out. The soundtrack gives me eargasm. The gameplay is where it really shines. Also, it was the NA version.
It is very awesome. Why isn't this topic filled with people talking about it? =(

I would be one of these people talking about it, but right when it was about to come out, I had to pay a bunch of crap off, and I can't afford to buy it. You buy it for me, and I'll be more than willing to talk about it.
Well, I got the game yesterday, just finished it today, and I have one word to describe it: AWESOME! So many things from the original were improved upon in the sequel, if the two were fighting in a boxing ring, the original would be down for the count in seconds. It's that good. It looks better, plays better, has more bosses than the original, is still pretty funny, and, best of all, has much better mini-games and no overworld.
Bottom line: Unless you're under the age of 18, or have a very good reason to avoid this game (i.e. Don't like the sight of blood or don't like hearing bad words), it would be a pretty big mistake to not give No More Heroes 2 a try.

June is a bit too far off, surely there isnt much to do translation/localisation wise? I mean the US version is in English.
Do any shops have it available for pre-order in the UK?
I suspect the delay has more to do with Rising Star being a smaller company than Ubisoft and therefore being unable to release as many games in a short timeframe.
With regard to pre-orders, the only place I've seen it available is zavvi.co.uk, but I expect that you'll find more places offering it in a couple of months.
