Topic: There should be Free WiiWare games!

There should be Free WiiWare games! I mean look at the iTunes app store, I know there is a lot of rubbish on there but there are some good free games! I know its nice that nintendo keeps all of them pretty and clean but I would love for them to open up a developement kit for WiiWare so anybody could make games, there would be SO many more games on there.
I know it will never hapen but I would LOVE IT!

On topic No, would be really sweet, but no developer wants to give out their hard work for free. Come on, if you made a game, would you honestly say...hmmmm.....even though we went through all the hard programming, sleepless nights, all the graphics, all the story, and all the online features, i think i'm going to sell it for free and get no profit...lol never gonna happen man xD.

But, yeah, I hear you, but one thing you have to remember is that it costs a LOT of money to get a WiiWare license, and getting your games on the store takes ages. After all that, you're going to want to get something out of it. I suppose Nintendo could put some free first-party games on, but y'know, they ain't gonna do that.

I suppose it would be nice to get a free game once in a while not any big games though probably something small and simple. Something no one would dare pay 500 Wii Points for.

Lol. Well if the Wiiware games were free, how would they make business.

He doesn't mean all, just some. I agree, a few small free WiiWare games would be nice, but they'd have to come from Nintendo.

Seriously man, you have a better chance of winning the lottery than Wiiware games becoming free. Companies don't make these games just so they can pass them around like lollipops, you know.

The occaisional discount would be nice though.

if that were true, they were advertise that ur getting coins with the purchase of the Wii or DS game, so i find it as more of a ....bonus

You could do it viably I suppose with in game advertising etc etc to fund the development and actually make it worth the developers while, but nah it'll not happen. You can't compare WiiWare with the Apps store, remember ANYONE can submit an application to the App Store, not anyone can submit to WiiWare. Nintendo are pretty damn strict when it comes to code coming out for their consoles and they check every line of code, test every part of the game over and over again. Utterly professional.

What alot of people don't realise is that when you develop for WiiWare, unless you sell X amount of titles, you won't get your money.

@Eripmav Hey man sounds like you're a dev from Gothenburg or working with those guys? I was wondering if you would know if there is any way to implement Wii speak in a Wiiware game? I Have ideas for some games but before starting up I would really like to know if it's even a possibility with wii speak in a 40 megs limit? Looking forward to the musketeers.
