It uses zero blocks because you've already downloaded it. It's not an expansion, it's an update. Whatever it is, it probably just fixed some fairy unnoticeable bugs in the channel

Yes, these updates fix any possible bugs and glitches in the channels

When it updates it only tells you how much space you need not how much has been changed. If the channel was 50blocks bigger that section would say "50 blocks needed" but if the new channel was the same size or smaller its going to say "0 blocks needed" because the space needed has already been allocated by the channel the new version replaces.

These updates might just be optimised versions of the old channels to save space with a few bug fixes. It might not add any new features but bug fixes and optimisation aren't bad things.

Can I just mock his utter inarticulacy instead then?

I can not confirm what you said just right before I read it, but I understood everything that was in it.
