Hi guys ! We are proud to present you our documentary dedicated to The Last Story.

The documentary : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umH0036zoG4

The conception of this documentary is a gathering of a whole years of translation which was done for Mistwalker-fr.info. This work was essential to achieve a concise but well documented overview of the game and its development. The main steps of the creation were highlighted as well as its structure and gameplay. The game storyline was deliberately set aside allowing the players to find it out by themselves.

First realization of the team, this documentary illustrates perfectly the approach of Sidekick.fr: focusing on different aspects from game design to the realization and presenting the designers/creators behind the game. We try to offer a more timeless content, result of many reflections and analysis by putting ourselves on the sideline of the actuality. Other documentaries are already planned, and they will be all dubbed in French and English.

I hope you will appreciate it as much as we like The Last Story !

The June issue of Nintendo Power has some concept art from the Last Story's early days when it was a dark sci-fi RPG called the Last World. The more I see and hear of the early designs the more I wish Mistwalker had stuck to it. I guess they changed to the fantasy setting apparently because so many RPGs are doing sci-fi now, but really, even looking at Xenoblade, only one character had a gun the others fought with swords and clubs--which is pretty common in futuristic JRPGs. The Last World had all but one character using firearms. That alone would have made it play different enough from most JRPGs. I don't know how well the darker story would have been received, but it wouldn't have put me off the game.

...in my pants.
