Late to the party on complimenting your review, Kid A. Sorry 'bout that! I read it the day you posted it though and very much enjoyed it. Well done, man.

Thanks buddy
In other news, I am thoroughly stuck on my second return to the egg corridor (the bit where you have to fight the two dragon-thingies). I never had problems with this before...it's like some mental block or something.

Those dragons whooped me good the first few times I fought them. To the point where I decided I'd cash in my precious life-pot the next time I got to them.

That time, however, I beat them with 2 or 3 health remaining.

I just recently replayed (due to getting the GOD AWFUL ENDING) and beat the dragons in a matter of seconds, getting hit no more than once or twice. I have no idea why it was so easy the second time...but I think it's because the first time, I was only stunning them...and the second time, I was still dealing damage while they were stunned.

No idea if that's even true...but it's my best guess. The second time was a breeze.

I don't know why so many people are having trouble with the twin dragons.

Wait for their mouths to open. Launch one missle, dealing some damage and stunning them. Repeat until their mouths are constantly open, then unload on them. Easy stuff.

The dragons were the hardest for me the first time I played the PC version. I wasn't great at it and I had the Snake so that's probably why...Playing the Wii version I had no trouble with any of the bosses.

Oh, and you don't have to fight the Twins if you can't beat them. Don't open the chest, and take the exit to the right.

The snake is my favourite weapon! It's extremely useful, especially if going for a hell speedrun.

I like it too but it wasn't all that helpfull against the twins. Once it gets to the flame shooting from both of them part, the Snake kinda fails.

So ends a saga older than time itself.
The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation
is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the
field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot
in this place a...

@mnementh
that was a brilliant piece of satire! Loved it!

I hope they release a patch for cave story. I know its a great game but the 1200 points combined with the bugs and issues with translation people have made me a bit more hesitant to buy this.

The bugs are virtually unnoticeable, and they don't affect the gameplay or enjoyment at all.

With the exception of the horrible bug where if you open your map in the overworld the game freezes in the worst way possible. My screen went blank and a high pitched noise started. I couldn't even turn off my WIi with the remote of the power button. I actually had to unplug it from the wall.
They NEED to fix this!
All of the other bugs are trivial, but this one is pretty damn bad.

Ok, let me know if I have this right-
People are complaining about the translation on the Wii version that the creator of the game helped with because it doesn't follow a translation that a fan did for it on the computer?

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

To be honest, the game locked up on me literally seven or eight times while going through a door (the same door every time) before it finally let me progress...and it didn't just hang the game, it froze my entire system and each time I had to hard reboot. I'd be lying if I said that didn't affect my enjoyment.

A friend of mine had the problem three or four times before he could get through, another friend swears that he gets the crash EVERY time...and Corbie and others say it didn't happen to them at all.

So yeah, it looks like individual experiences vary, but I definitely do feel it's a bug that needs to be patched. It's not an easily avoidable one like bombing the transition beats in Bit Trip Core...this is a door that you need to progress through to see the final third of the game.

I haven't ever had the game freeze up on me before, and I've played the game for over 5 hours. Guess I'm pretty lucky.

Well it wasn't just some random fan. The guy who did the translation is even thanked in the manual for the game. It was the sole way english speaking players were able to play the game for years. I'd agree that some overreact over things like "huzzah" but I've heard that some things don't sound right in english and much worse there are spelling and grammar mistakes that really take you out of the game.

Add this onto the bugs and it makes me hesitant to download since cave story deserves a perfect port. I haven't beat the original but played it enough to realize that its a great game.

The thing that really worries me is that despite long lists of problems with the game on the Nicalis forums there hasn't been one response or acknowledgment of any problems with the game. Its the number 1 wiiware game right now so obviously a lot of people have bought it. They would do well for the image of the company to address that there are bugs and what they are going to do.

Max and the magic marker EU release had bugs but after the NA release an update was released. With cave story much higher profile they need to do the same and quickly or it could really hurt their reputation.

wait... ure playing as a futuristic robot manboy who can fly, saving bunny-people from an evil doctor in some underground... cave with unrealistic 1990s graphics and audio but grammar errors 'really take you out of the game'? a typo is really the breaking point?

'ok, i can cope with being a futuristic robot manboy who can fly who saves bunny-people from an evil doctor in some underground... cave with unrealistic 1990s graphics and audio, but a misspelling is what just ruined the experience for me...'

really? REALLY?
