Disappointing, so it is now owned by either some random dude, or Game Crazy. The story modes gameplay sucked. I loved the story though. I think it has one of the deepest story's on the Wii, or even this gen. The online was terrible. Lag and connection problems with that game only, and I couldn't stand it.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
I hated it. The single player was lame, and the online mode was a flat out mess. Shame, as when I was able to get a multiplayer match going without problems it wasn't too shabby.

Are you having a laugh? There was no story!!! Huh?! Please tell me you are joking. Please!
As for my two cents, it was ok, great the first time through but paying £30 for a 5hour game sucks ass! And as I've stated the 'story' (which involved dramatic twists and turns, yawn) sucked. Multiplayer will be great for those who don't mind playing the same few levels over and over again. I don't hate it, the controls rocked and in places the visuals were yummy. I just hope they learn a few lessons before their next fps.
I like the game alright. The story is where it was a fail for me. The Trust government agency against alien invasion. Hmm were the trust not a faction in Stargate SG 1 ? Rip off. Some of the aliens were based off of alien designs off of Halo. Not the entire design but small portions. Also the Conduit portal itself felt like another rip off from Stargate to an extent. I was one of those plagued with online problems but yet I have had no problems with Madden 09, Mario Kart Wii, COD WAW, MOH 2 etc. I contacted there support and SEGA told me I needed to send my Wii in for repair. That was pure utter bull. High Voltage flat out told me after a nice guy named ERIC from them contacted me he forwarded my email to someone else and that guy told me ""Hey were working on it, we are sick of all the complaining from those that purchased it."" That was directly from High Voltage so ultimately its sitting on the shelf. The good is the controls, I love the sniping and the online once you get in and wait its pretty fun. Graphics are good and a few areas in like the corners were not polished very well but I do not buy games for graphics. The sound did sound good. Kevin Sorbo was the only real highlight of the story. Long Live Hercules ! Overall the disappointments make the game easily a 6.5 for me out of 10. Playable and average. Too much was ripped off from existing franchises and reboxed into one for me to give it anything passed generic status. With poor support from SEGA and HIgh Voltage I can say I will buy SEGA games in the future because I realize High Voltage actually made the game. But, I will never buy a game from High Voltage ever again. Now before some fanboy starts crying this guy does not like my Conduit game whah whah. This is my opinion and I am entitled to it. If you love the game then great. If you hate then great.
I thought it was very good, honestly. And for the hours I spent playing it, I certainly got my money's worth. But then I stumbled across the not-yet-played RE4 in my game collection, and I haven't looked back since. This thread was a good reminder that I should though. Thanks.
But, I will never buy a game from High Voltage ever again.
I can understand that you don't like one particular game, sure. And you're not alone when it comes to The Conduit being that game. But saying you'll never buy another HVS title is like saying you'll never buy a Porsche because they made the 924. So I hope you were just being dramatic, because you might miss out.
I've also been playing through RE4 for the first time (something a couple of my friends have been imploring me to do for ages), and it is indeed one of the most entertaining titles on the Wii. Pointer functionality gets rid of the awkward controls (so say the friends who originally played it on the PS2 and wouldn't let go of my Wii remote once they tried the port), the locations and atmosphere are incredible (way ahead of probably all realism-based Wii graphics), and the combat is wonderfully dynamic. Haven't played the Conduit, but mainly because the story, atmosphere, and overall aesthetics bore me in all the gameplay videos I watched.

Warioswoods, The Conduit definitely has its strong points, such as the controls and their customization. Also, it's a bit more realisitc (if that can be said about a game where aliens conspiring with the government pour through wormholes throughout DC to decimate the population, whose hope rests solely in you) in that you can actually move while you shoot, and only carry two weapons at a time as opposed to half your local Army National Guard's armory. I think you'll like it, honestly. Just set your expectations, it doesn't have the depth or lenght of RE4, or the extra minigames. But it does have online, if that's important to you. Enjoy!
@Vendetta You misunderstood. I could live with the gameplay and if I was not one of the unlucky ones that experienced the online glitch. I was mad that they flat out told me they was sick of their customers complaining about the online glitch which a number of people were experiencing and it was their fault not mine. Would that not make you say hmmm. wow thats horrible support. Why would I want to support them if they are just going to tell me they are sick of people complaining. I sent 1 email to them and I was not even complaining about the game at that point. I sent an inquiry to them asking if other people were experiencing problems. Why would I want to spend my money supporting a developer that is snide and rude towards their customers ? And I never said I did not like the game. I said I liked it alright. Bottom line is when you have poor and rude support when I am nice in an email I am not going to support them and that is the reason I will not buy their games.
I got you, DHD, I do. But this is one of those situations where it's the devil you know versus the devil you don't. And for someone who hunts devils, well... it should be no big thing. In all seriousness though, I don't blame HVS solely for the online issues. The game sold well, and many people went online with a game whose data payload probably overstressed the system a bit. Excusable? Perhaps not, but it was a "situation," and we've all had situations before. Doesn't make us bad. And I sure wouldn't avoid Alien Crush Returns on WiiWare because it was from HVS. But it's up to you my man, you get to vote with your own money.
you know I have not put the Conduit in for a few months. This thread makes me want to see if the online is working right so if it works I will like it much better.
I actually liked the story in the Conduit. There is a deep and complex story in that game, however; you have to look for it. You have to search for hidden messages on the wall, you have to listen to each of the radio stations (awesome), and you might even have to do some research online because of the various conspiracy theories that are found throughout the game. The story's there, but you have to look for it; kinda like in the Metroid Prime games, but this game might actually require some research. There's even some greek mythology thrown into the game, too.
What I'm trying to say in this rambling post is: I really like the story and thought that the game was fun.
Anyway its nothing too mindblowing but Ive been enjoying playing - now just to get past the part m stuck and have only half tryed to pass, I need a stratergy - to the internet!
+1 to never buying a high voltage software game again.
oh boy. Can't people figure what games to get without making ultimatums, rules, and categorical imperatives? Is it really that hard to tell a good game from a bad one on a case-by-case basis instead of resorting to generalisations and obedience to arbitrary laws?
@RandomWiiPlayer I read the link you referenced, pretty cool stuff. It's no secret that HVS put a ton of depth into the mythology behind The Conduit - there was a thread I started some time ago that exposed codes and secrets in the game such as "number stations" on the game's radios - but I'm sure some wish they had put that effort into tightening up the online play infrastructure. I'm pretty sure it wasn't an either/or situation, but you get their point.
