Anyone think/hope some more games ever come out to utilize this hunk of plastic? It works great in a few games already, but I really wish I had more use for it. Even if it just means a second Wii Fit (Wii Fit Plus Plus?). Definitely an underused controller, I feel.
I think it's really good for board games(shaun white/skate it) but they really need to utilize it more. wasn't it supposed to be the "legs" of the console.
Not very much. The idea is great, but the way iy was used... I used in Shaun White and Wii Fit Plus, but they all were a mere curiosity. Underused peripheral, yes.
On topic - the balance board will never have unique games optimized to it, other than the fitness games. Simply becaus the install base is so low that there's no point to publish a game on it.
@WaveBoy: Mario Kart Wii will probably not drop in price untill the next Mario Kart console game comes out and than probably not by much. Double Dash still goes for about $50 on Amazon brand new but you can find a used copy for $20 at Gamestop. In General Mario games dont go down in price till the next one in the series comes out. Mario games are just too popular for a price drop.
You might luck out and find a used one but it probably wont be that much cheaper than a new one maybe $5 to $10 dollars difference. Keep you eye out during the Christmas season you might be able to score a deal for it than. Last year Toys R Us had a deal with New Super Mario Bros Wii that when you bought it at full price you get another Wii game at 50% off so I grabbed Mario Kart Wii for $25 bucks.
Go back on the subject here yeah there are a few games out there for the Balance board but not much. I have tried it on Mario and Sonic at the Winter Games and Punch-Out!! and I found that they were just horrible for those games. The response times were a bit off and at other times it seemed too sensative. Using the controls without the Balance board was better at least for me. I also belive that Wii Sports Resort uses the board too but I might be wrong there.

I have the wii fit plus and There is a lot of fun minigames in it. Plus my wife likes the exercises, so overall i like the balance board, but we only use it on wii fit

Looking at some of the games for Raving Rabbids TV Party, there are some good ideas for the balance board. One minigame uses it as a brake and acceleration pedal. That combined with a wiimote steering wheel makes for a prime candidate of game control.
Given I use Wii Fit Plus multiple days a week I definitely think it's worthwhile, but given I only have one other game that uses it which I never play (Overturn), I think "love" might be putting it a bit strong.
I use it for Wii Fit Plus every so often too (even if mainly just to weigh myself, since I've been decent about doing "real" exercising recently). I'd really like to get Sean White, and I'm on the fence about Monkey Ball. That just seems like a fun way to control it, even if it would be frustrating when it gets difficult.

@Token Girl Shaun White is great! Well at least the first two anyway. The third looks even better. The first aren't that innovative for actual software; it's pretty simple to play but a lot of fun and very hard to master. Some completionist rounds take perfect runs.
Bought this Wii Fit bundle when it first came out. I love the thing... but I really wish I had more games that made use of it. I'm considering picking up Skate It or We Ski just to use for it... or maybe Super Punch Out. I have a Kinect for our Xbox 360, but I feel that both that and the balance board have a place in my household.
but, i did enjoy Punch-Out with it. That was a Bast
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I, like Sean, use wii fit plus multiple times per week so I'm happy with the dang thing. I also use it for Mario&Sonic Winter Olympics, which it works very well for as it does for Shaun White's Snowboarding World Tour.
I used to also use it for RRR TV Party and We Ski and Snowboard - but I sold them over 6 months ago. I used it a bit for Tetris Party, Monkey Ball Step and Roll, the brilliant Punch Out and Overturn, but not that much. Step and Roll is ok, but frustrating like Sean's revw indicated. I don't have it anymore.
Overall, yeah, I got quite decent use out of it tbh....i don't love it, but really like it...
I think one of the better examples for how great the Balance Board is would be the "Chicken Suit" game in Wii Fit Plus. It's quite an intuitive experience with motions from big and small arm movements as well as leaning forward, backward and to either side; your motions have an effect on the game that you'd expect if you were actually flying by flapping your arms like a bird and all without holding a controller.
Looking at some of the games for Raving Rabbids TV Party, there are some good ideas for the balance board. One minigame uses it as a brake and acceleration pedal. That combined with a wiimote steering wheel makes for a prime candidate of game control.
That's a brilliant idea! When that's used for an actual racing game I must be notified.
And then there are the Wii Jackets, I've never liked them as they make the Wii remote feel weird and cheap. And that little dinky MotionPlus accessory will make way of the dodo as soon as the Wii Remote Plus hits hehe.
I'm one of the few people I know who use the jackets, and you just gave me what is probably the main reason. I actually much prefer the feel with the jacket, that may be because I got my Wii after Nintendo started packaging them with a jacket. MotionPlus is kind of annoying, glad that there's Remote Plus. Maybe I think that because I only used MotionPlus once... whatever.
Thanks for the link by the way! Great site. And yeah, I'm definitely planning on getting a game or two soon that uses it. I bring it out every now and then to play some of the Wii Fit mini games.
