Eh, don't worry about it. It's not like you're the only one who feels that way. Heck, I hated it until I played more of it, as well as beat the remake once or twice, and played the subsequent sequels through a time or two. It really does require some patience and practice and handle that game, which may not be worth it for some people.

I got Castlevania 2. It's alright but I still like the first one the best.

Currently Playing: Pikmin 3 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Recently Beat: Wind Waker HD, Mario 3D World, and A Link between Worlds

I was originally going to get Final Fantasy with my freebie, but I decided to give Squeenix my money (if they get any) last week. Since Nintendo already took my $5, I went with StarTropics since it was recommended by a friend and it got an 8/10 on NL, and I already have almost all of the 10/9/8 NES games.

Haven't played it yet...but glad that we got something like this for supporting them. Thanks, Nintendo!

i'm a serious gamer.

Right, with the first statement you easily negate the second. Why are you here? Think carefully before responding.

wow, Nintendo is giving a lot of love to Europe lately.

About flippin time if you ask me. Do you know how long we spent in the wilderness? Waiting 6 months to a year for releases through previous generations, sometimes not getting games at all. Everything changed when the Wii came out though, long may it last.

Did NoA and NoE kinda semi-merge or something? I know Pokémon USA and Pokémon UK merged to make Pokémon International (which is showing some improvements for European gamers, such as the various Wi-Fi eventsrunning here and America at the same time, rather than with a half-year gap between them), wondering if Nintendo as a whole are following suit. It just seems like we Europeans are waiting a heck of a lot shorter times for games to come out over here.

Anyone know yet if this is homebrew safe?

I was wondering the same thing until I tried it. It requires a system update, so no, it is not. I wish it was, I don't want to update.

We're not supposed to discuss homebrew at length here, but just to correct that: the new update it forces is just for the Shop Channel, so if you're already running the latest System Menu, there's no risk at all.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

On one hand, I'm extremely happy to see so many people giving StarTropics a chance. On the other, I fear that it'll go relatively unnoticed by Nintendo since it's all free downloads. The former wins out though, because in the end, I know better than to expect Nintendo to pay much attention either way.

Main point: Thanks for downloading StarTropics, people!

@Machu: I'm happy for you and all, but couldn't you have maybe not gotten that right when NoA started stinking like a year-dead skunk in a manure heap? Why can't we ALL get awesome treatment? If this is an object lesson, I get the point and I fully sympathize with the past plight of the European gamer; can we please just move on now?

I guess Stuffgamer1 will be happy to hear that I decided to go with StarTropics 2: Zoda's Revenge for my NES download.

@WolfRamHeart: You are correct, my good man. Of course, the only reason I didn't go with a StarTropics title is that I'd already downloaded them both. Long live Mike Jones! Down with Zoda!

I'll get Startropics sometime, but I've got a huge list right now. Lets see, Contra 3, Contra Rebirth, Final Fantasy, Ninja Gaiden 2, Super Turrican... After all those, unless there's a big VC release, I'll try Startropics.

Finally got StarTropics. I've liked it so far - it's certainly difficult, but surprisingly fair and by no means frustrating. I really can't wait to play more of it.

LOL

Come back after a few more hours of playing. Your tune will change.

Awesome? Yes. Fair and not frusting? Hell no!

Even I, the director of the "StarTropics uber-fans choir," must agree with JayArr; the game DOES get frustrating later on. Doing an online search for the scanned N-Power maps should help a LOT (especially in the first part of chapter 8, which is a REAL maze), as will plenty of practice. I think it was GameSpy or something like that who had them. Not sure.

Try rolling some dice if you're that stuck, since you really can't go wrong either way. That's what I always do, seems to work out fine.

"Roll the dice to see if I'm getting drunk!"

"Yeah, you are!"

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Mickeymac reminded me of it.

Also, I believe this method is an EXCELLENT idea, provided that StarTropics is assigned every number.
