So, back in April I bought myself Little King Story for my birthday.
Got a few hours into it, enjoyed it greatly. Made the mistake of saying to my missus 'I think you'll like this'.
She got OBSESSED with it and played it constantly for weeks. When she finally completed it, I really didn't feel like playing it again, I felt like it wasn't 'mine' any more. I'm sure I'll come back to it some day, but I STILL can't bring myself to pick it up as I feel like I've seen it all and there's no secrets in it for me to uncover(there are of course, she spent a lot of time playing it when I was out, so there's loads of stuff I haven't seen).
What really pathetic things have ruined games for you?
That's not really a stupid thing that ruins something is it? I'm talking stuff like, stupid trousers on a supporting character. Game locations that remind you of your work place. STUPID irrational stuff.

I tend to have that effect on people myself. After I got Viva Pinata I played it so much my sister and cousin gave up not long after because I'd always find everything before them. My brother also told me he felt the same way when where kids and I got a new game.
As for myself, major abrupt difficulty spikes that invovle a short but extremely hard, tedious, or unfair segment tend to kill a game for me. Even after I get past those moments, they always leave a nasty taste in my mouth, and I find it hard to keep going. A lot of the Boss fights in Little King's Story did this to me, espeically that fat pinball one. Think I died 20 times just trying to figure exactly what were the rules in his fight. =P
For me it is that hills in games (such as wind waker) are hollow inside, also in wind waker i keep seeing the sea as a thin layer across a 360/'2' room. (360 degrees, 2d barrier at the edges of the rooom.)
Also in games like pokemon platinum i see cave entrances as 2d sprites painted across a 3d object instead of how you are meant to see them.
A game must have a least one pretty girl in it. If it does not, then I don't like it. Luckily for me, most video game companies pander to me and my kind, so I'm good.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I know the feeling! I had to stop playing Metroid Prime 1 (Trilogy edition) for about a week because I got frustrated with the morph ball half pipes in the furnace and life grove tunnel (to reach the top, not the ledge on the other side). I just couldn't figure out what was wrong with my boosting technique. Well, I fired the game up again yesterday and tried some more (over and over and over) until I finally figured what I was doing wrong. Now I can boost like crazy! Phew! So now I love the game again.
For me not being able to skip cut scenes is a big turn off, I generally just want to get on with the game and don't care for whatever lame story they have tacked on. This in itself is quite strange considering how much of a fan I am of RPG's and Point and click adventures.

Uber powerful side bosses that make the final boss look like a damn grunt. I woudent say it "ruins" a game for me but i'll usalley put it down for a few days thinking "how the devil do they expect me to beat that". And even if I beat them all I get is and uber sword or summon like in GS:TLA it's like after beating that do I really need more power?
