What, are you expecting the content of a full retail release from a game that's only $15?
I'm expecting a least the same content from a 15 year old game
A 15 year old game that cost way more than $15 when it was originally released. I think people forget that the only reason old games are priced the way they are is because they're in low demand - since they are old, by now many people have already played it and there are many other ways that someone who does want it can get it. On the other hand Sonic 4 is a new game, and should be treated as such. Yes, it's $15, but unlike Sonic 2, you've never played it before and this is the only way you can play it.
@Mickeymac speaks the truth. Not to mention development costs have risen immensely since the early 90s thanks to increased graphical and audio fidelity, more expensive licensing and technology, higher expectations from players, more competition, higher marketing costs, and host of other factors. Then we have inflation, meaning the price of Sonic 2 back in 1992 would be a much higher figure if converted to today's value. Care to pay over $100 for a 16-bit cartridge? No? Well that's what you were doing.
It's a wonder that quality games can be released for such low prices in this day and age, and yet people still complain. Talk about gratitude. And complaints about imaginary, unconfirmed things like "there won't be many paths and secrets in each level", no less.
I'll probably get this at some point. Although an 8/10 is hardly "Look out Mario!" status, and it doesn't sound like this is as good as the Genesis games. More like a step in the right direction.
"Oooh, yes I said it! I said it! I said it 'cause I caaan!" My Backloggery
I got it for iphone but I think I'll consider getting it for Wii too. The iphone version is fine and while the controls are good enough Sonic is the kind of game that gives you much more joy having extremely precise controls. I'm not a big fan of the art style. Sonic looks pretty funny in motion. Though I've never played the DS games Sonic hasn't looked right in a sidesscroller since the Genesis. That's one thing I didn't like about the GBA releases. They played good but the sprites looked horrid. I've never understood why the more recent sidescrolling ventures have Sonic at the wrong angle and his face is often facing more into the screen when he runs.
I can't wait! And those complaining about the amount of levels, remember, this is Episode 1. But yeah 3 zones for 15 bucks is really pushing it though...hmm...I thought it was 1000 points before I saw this post. I guess not.

...How many times does it have to be said that there are 4 zones with 3 acts each? Like a whole page of this thread was dedicated to people saying, "ohhh it's 4 zones, that seems alright for the price". Did you somehow miss that? lol
Also it's 1000 in Japan but apparently pricing will be different in different regions.
