Actually its three diffrent characters. One exclusinve for each version of the game. Right now the only one that is known is Mario for the WiiWare version. Its kinda of an answer to Sonic being in Super Mario Galaxy 2. As for PSN and XBLA, one can only guess.

I'd say Eggman, hidden because whilst we know he's in the game, we don't yet know what he looks like. And he's had more appearance changes over the years than the blue 'hog himself. I'm guessing he'll take his Adventure-era lanky appearance, but his old style would be nice too. And it'd explain how he fits in his craft without his knees going up his nose. EDIT: But what I'm more interested in is what the other Characters section is - there's the Featured characters with Sonic and our MYSTERY GUEST, but there's another padlocked link on the sidebar. I guess we'll find out in (at time of posting) 14 and a half hours.

Well he also appears on the "level clear sign" and pausing the video we can see that it's actually the adventure-styled design, and as Sonic it seems the model structure that they had in unleashed. (well him inside the ship was hard to see but the face in the sign made me assume so.)
I hope they allow you to be able to transform into Super Sonic at any time(with 50 rings or more of course) once you gather up the chaos emeralds(if they're in the game)....
I'd say next character they reveal will be either Robotnik or Tails. Most likely Tails since he's always been with Sonic since Sonic 2 in the 2d games(minus Sonic CD).
Huh, what gives? The padlock is unlocked now but... there's nothing underneath it. The locked character under 'featured' is still locked too =|
There's an single reason for that, Sega guys who makes the sites aren't very good with internet security, and usually there are several leaks because of that, so they didn't put the content originally and they forgot to put it back. Maybe because it's American based an they forget that there is an entire of the globe out there (the site probably unlocks by the time set internally in the computer or by the location of the internet connection, I noticed that on some forums where Germany people had it unlocked sooner than us for example, Portugal and UK.)
