Topic: Sonic 4 ? character

I went on the character screen on the main sonic 4 website ( http://www.sega.com/sonic4/us/index.html ) and on the featured page is a blanked out character. It says ??? Who could it be know. My guess is Dr. Robotnik (maybe they'll bring back his original name as well) but I wanted to see what other people thought. Who do you think it is?

I think it's a second playable character, so Tails or Knuckles are more likely imo.

I hope it isn't a new friend, they said they would avoid them, but just to be sure (Picks up shotgun)

As for my predictions, it's probably Eggman/Dr. Robotnik. I guess we'll just have to for three days and 43 minutes more before we know who it really is.

Every description on the site calls the Doctor, "Eggman", but that doesn't mean that they don't leave an reference to Robotnik, which there are plenty of them after Sonic Adventure until now.
(Canonically speaking, it's his real last name, Eggman is no more than just an alias.)

But one thing, (you probably already know, but let's leave it here) "Eggman" and "Robotnik" were made about the same time period, "Eggman" by the creator of the character, Naoto Oshima and "Ivo Robotnik" by Dean Sitton, a man that worked on the localization team in Sega of America. So they are both original.
And they are now both canonically correct in every region, even Japan.

It's me. I'm going to be playable in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, as Sage the Phoenix.

Day 1 buy.

But seriously, I'd say it's either Eggman, Tails, or Metal Sonic (who, going on the Info section, sounds like he's making a return)

I think it'll be either Eggman or a second playable character (note that neither Tails nor Knuckles were crossed off from that image earlier).

My prediction? This game will have 1 or 2 playable characters, and each new episode will have additional characters (maybe differing the second char for each episode)

If it becomes "Chip" I'm getting my shotgun too.

yeah I saw the character countdown thingie, but it IS Sega.

Why would the "secret character" be Dr. Eggman if his name is on the site numerous times?

I'm guessing it's Tails. It only makes sense. Ivo is a possibility, but he is kind of a given. Hiding him like this doesn't make any sense at all.

I'd say Eggman, hidden because whilst we know he's in the game, we don't yet know what he looks like. And he's had more appearance changes over the years than the blue 'hog himself. I'm guessing he'll take his Adventure-era lanky appearance, but his old style would be nice too. And it'd explain how he fits in his craft without his knees going up his nose.
EDIT: But what I'm more interested in is what the other Characters section is - there's the Featured characters with Sonic and our MYSTERY GUEST, but there's another padlocked link on the sidebar. I guess we'll find out in (at time of posting) 14 and a half hours.
